So what did everyone get for christmas / hanukkah or what every you celebrate? Any cool tools? Any one actually get the car with the big red bow on top of it?
Ya I know it is not supposed to be about the presents but. .. . . Ya it is about the presents
So what did I get? My wife said yes to building the multi car garage / shop with three bays and a work area for tools and benches etc. I have been designing it in AUTOCAD on and off for about 3 months now. I am excited!!!!
Boring but functional presents, the usual socks, underwear, mixed nuts and pajamas.
I also obtained spousal permission/approval to attend the 2010 challenge, this is most good.
Random gift, but I got a game scouting camera. I don't hunt, but they're useful for other things. NO underwear or t-shirts??? Odd xmas this year.

$100 NAPA gift card [gone]

The most helpful thing we got was a $125 Lowe's gift card. Handy, since we just bought a house.
And I bought myself a welder. (Not using the gift card.) Does that count?
My best present arrived today!
Plans have been laid.
Myself and 7 other buddies from Ohio will be heading out to Southern California to compete in the 2010 Midwinter Regatta in Long Beach, CA in late Feb.
So, in Feb, while the temps here in Ohio will be zero (or lower), we will be spending a week on a borrowed boat!
Not really a Christmas present but I am more excited about it than anything else this time of year.

Since I originally posted this My brother gave me a christmas / house warming gift card to Home Depot. Since I also purchased a new home this year it was put to good use. Three new programmable thermostats sucked up most of the card. The rest I think are going to curtains or something. My wife claimed the balance for interior decorating.
I did not get any socks or long johns either.. . . No books and non of the usually see how badly we can embarrass Dean presents from my relatives. This is a case where I am afraid.. .. . Very afraid.
Lesse, got a wallet, a book about scientists... oh and an otter box for the iphone, im not longer concerned about metal shavings getting into it or bashing it with a screwdriver! win.

This was a good Christmas for me! Quite the pile of loot.
New low-profile floor jack, a few hand tools, and a bag full of loot for the MINI:
- Ported cylinder head
- New cam
- New clutch
- New flywheel
- New Autometer wideband O2 sensor and gauge
- "Certificate" for a dyno and tune session
Can't complain!
A bit of money. I'm mainly using it to fix up the cars, of course.

4 link rear suspension kit for the MGB GT. And rebuilt swivel axle assemblies to take car of the other end. And a set of Hoosier Patern Wheels to build an english wheel.
I didn't get much car or tool related for X-mas and my birthday (Dec. 29), just a TomTom GPS and a Bleak & Drecker 9.6V cordless drill. I bought a Stri boost gauge and VentPod for my Mazdaspeed3 with my X-mas/b-day money.
Since you asked about tools.....an 8 amp, 1/2" corded Milwaukee drill with keyless chuck to replace my ancient 3/8" B&D job (it still works.....it'll live in the trailer box for emergencies). Other stuff too, but all non-tools.
Got a MIG welder (now I need to lean how to use it) and a Verizon droid...that I need to learn how to use. 8)
