Adapting a VW B5.5 power steering box to a MB W116 steering box.
On the VW side I've found the fitting to be M16x1.5 banjo and I've found one that goes to 3/8JIC which my local small town hydraulic hose place can work with.
On the MB side is this fitting(not my photo). I know the hose side is a Gates Field Attachable Coupling but what is the power steering box side? I'm struggling through catalogs and failing.
Grind the crimp sleeve off the Benz coupling and pull the fitting out. Take it to your favorite hydraulic shop and have them crimp it to new hose with the banjo fitting. That's how I'd do it.

It's a Field Attachable Coupling so I can just unscrew it. I'm trying to find one that's not a 100° bend
Looks like DIN light to me, would be metric thread if so.
Edit to include a photo:
Most that I have seen are universal seat which have the o-ring in the flare.

Did my photo show up? That doesn't look like it at all. There's no oring on mine. I searched a few DIN Light catalogs and see nothing that looks like my fitting
Here is a line drawing of a parker DIN fitting that is not universal seat (does not have the o-ring).
That's what it looks like to me from experience in the industrial side of hydraulics but without the fitting in front of me to measure it's just a guess.
Have you tried taking it to the hose shop for them to identify?
I don't know what it's called, but those fittings are all over older MB cars. Fuel lines, power steering, probably something else I've forgotten. If you can find a yard with a few MB from the 80s, you'll have a wealth of options in terms of sizes and angles. The Gates coupling is def not original (I'm sure you know this).
edit - MB also seems to come up with very funky designs for the hard line portion - loop-de-loops, random kinks, corkscrews, right-left-right, who knows what. Go to Rock Auto, start perusing the power steering pump hose options for 80s and 90s MB. Almost certainly something in there you could use the one end for.

Following another build thread on here I realized there's actually an adapter between my unknown fitting and the steering box. This looks like a standard fitting and he even lists the size at M12x1.5. I think I now have enough info to buy fittings and get a line built.
