Half shafts should have CVs  Wheel bearings GENERALLY don't make clunking noises, but rather whirring or rumbling noises.

 

Without hearing it for myself, I'd wonder if the diff bushings are weak and the nose is dropping under decel, causing the guibo to bind.   Or it could be something else entirely.

Side gears/spider gears loose in the case, like worn out from the one wheel peel is possible.  If limited slip, is one tire smaller than the other, causing the clutches to ratchet when unloaded?
