So the gf planned a last minute beach trip with her friends this weekend, which means I get a free day to myself for the first time in a few weeks. There's a few fun car-related things going on this weekend, all within a 2-3 hour drive, and I can't seem to make up my mind what to do. Since I trust you people with most of my other major life decisions, help me figure out what I wanna do this weekend!
Option A:NEPA region auto x at Pocono
Pros:
I've heard from multiple guys I run with locally that these are great events. I've only made it out to two local events so far this season due to stupid vacations and weddings and our next is now a few months off, so I'm kinda jonesin' for some cones. What is it exactly that makes the Pocono events so great?
Cons:
Probably a lot of cars, I'm guessing? Might make for a long, slow day with few runs? Would also have to be up pretty damn early, and I like sleeping in at least a bit when I can.
Option B: Allegheny Highlands Region auto x in Blairsville
Pros:
Per Revrico's thread, seems to be a smaller group, with shorter events and time for fun runs (we never have time for fun runs in Susquehanna Region )! Start time is a bit later, so I could sleep in a bit more than if going to Pocono. Seems walk up registration would be no problem.
Cons:
Furthest option by probably an hour. Might not have anyone to run against in Cam-C or STP?
Option C: Spectate at Weatherly Unlocking
Pros:
Could ride the motorcycle up and probably find some fun roads along the way (or take the dog along in the Jeep due to risk of storms maybe?). Get up at pretty much whatever time. Never been to a hill climb, seems like a hell of a fun time!
Cons:
Probably will make me wish i were driving instead of watching.
Option D: ???
Dark sunglasses and a beach chair.
SMF, C street, and STR have been very well represented so far, as well as H whatever they are, lightly modified WRXs. I'm alone in STS. Last month a Mini club joined us and I guess they're pretty regular in attendance, and there was a 911 and a GT3 for weirdness. The weather is supposed to be nice, for a change, and Pitt Race just moved their Sunday low key autocross to NEXT weekend, so we may have a better turnout on Sunday.
Walk up reg is no problem, $25 for SCCA members.
Turnouts, Timesheets, etc. from last month, I think both events as well.
Actually, just heard the following from our Auto-x chair:
READY FOR THE WEEKEND??
Autocross Events 3 & 4, Saturday June 11 & Sunday June 12 in Blairsville.
Saturday also has Wyotech Anniversary Celebration events - car show, food, stuff for the kids & more - make it a family day!
Our registration starts at 9 - all event info on the website. - be aware there may be paddock/tech location changes due to Wyotech events - we will advise when you get there -
Help with setup is appreciated & needed - sleep in Saturday, don't need you there until 7:30 - - message me if you are able to help -
"Like" this post, show up to setup and/or run - get bonus stickers for your sweet ride & gain the admiration of your fellow AHR members! Hey, why not bring a friend & introduce them to our obsession??
See you soon!!
Also, the Pocono autocross is full, and was online registration only, so unless you want to come up and bum rides, you'd be SOL.
If you went to Weatherly and got there early enough, you could probably end up working a corner, which can be interesting.
AH SCCA is a good bunch of guys, and they know how to make the most out of their small lot.
Option D:
I'm pretty far behind schedule rebuilding my deck, landscaping the area and building a fire pit. I'll let you stand on a ladder and play with the screw gun!
Well Option D turned out to be last minute dog sitting for my parents all afternoon Saturday (for how much help they've given dog sitting my pup I really could't turn them down, nor should I complain.) Sunday I was just lazy and couldn't muster the energy to get out of bed at 5 am for the drive our to Blairsville.
On the plus side, I did take the Cherokee out exploring in the state forest all afternoon Sunday. Covered a lot of previously uncharted territory and found a few pretty cool mud holes and a decent little hill climb thing. Not exactly what I had planned, but still made for a fun day. I'll post pics at some point when I'm not at work.

Glasgow High School, just south of I-95 in Newark, DE. BMC Autocross on Saturday 06/18 - $30 for nonmembers. We'll probably have around 75 cars and you'll get 6 runs minimum unless the weather goes horribly wrong or the timing tent burns down.
Preregistration at MSR.
EDIT: D'oh. Well, the offer still stands.
Biggest turnout weekend I guess the region has had in the 5 years it's been a region, and my car died at the start of my second lap the first day. What no head smashing wall smiley like on m.net?

In reply to Duke:
Hey, how soon does an event at Glasgow HS usually wrap up? Could I expect to be out of there by 2pm or no way?

We run 2 heats with 3 run groups in each heat. We're usually done running around 4:00. You could run Group A and then work B and C of the morning heat, then run A of the afternoon heat and leave. You'd get your 6 runs, you'd work your 2 sessions, and likely be done by 2.
Option D: instead of mowing the lawn do doughnuts in the backyard until the yard is bare
