Or, more correctly, what can I use as tire bead lube if I don't want to buy and store a big tub of the stuff that I will use approximately once per almost never.
I guess I'm ok buying something, but if it ages out i'd rather just use something I may already have on the shelf.
Soapy water? PB Blaster? CRC something (hint hint GRM)? Mix of bleach and orange juice?
Warm Soapy water always worked for me.

Klein conduit lube works pretty well on suspension bushings would probably do well on tires too.

This is what the cheap tire shop where I get most of my tire installation done uses.

We used to just mix water and dish detergent at the tire place I worked.
Just brushed it on, sometimes you could get the beads over without a tool with just soapy water.
Probably not with the super stiff sidewalls of today's low profile tires.
I've had good luck using CRC heavy duty silicone spray when mounting tires by hand. Spray down the bead and the rim and they slide right on. Shouldn't have to worry about shelf life.
With this, you'll be able to get it on.

If they're fancy French tires (Michelins) then I think you need to use duck fat.
Goop Hand soap is the cat's pajamas for installing tires as well as any type of window glass that uses a rubber molding.
For stubborn hose assemblies (as mentioned above somewhere), Honda Shin Etsu grease. That's what it's made for, and those little Honda engineers know their stuff.

I use Dawn dish soap on stuff like this. The advantage to it over greasy things is that it mostly evaporates and leaves little behind to make a de-beading problem later. Oily stuff will stay oily for a very long time.
I have a small bottle of Dawn in the shop that will last me a few years and cost $1.
