With our 2017 E400 wagon likely to be a very long term car, which is full of options and modules and whatnot, I know I'm going to need the proper diagnostic tool to talk to all of the modules and sensors and crap to keep it all working, ideally even adjusting and programming stuff rather than just reading and clearing codes.
I see a wide variety of options from things that look like bigger code readers to entire laptops with cables and hacked software. There appear to be different generations of software. As the software is apparently all ripped off from Mercedes the info isn't exactly as apparent as I would like. I know some people here have some experience with this (Cotton?), so what exactly do I need to get that will with with my car?
I would be very interested in this as well for my 2012 cls!!!
Bouncing this to the top. Does anyone have any leads on where to get one of these? I know this was discussed in the past and someone had good luck with stuff off eBay I think. Since I know very little about these and they are not exactly cheap getting a little info on what and where to get one would be greatly appreciated!!!

I went ahead and bought one, just arrived. I'll probably try it out tonight. I'll post more details once I use it.
I got one from AliExpress, took a lot of figuring on the MHH Auto boards to get it all sorted out. Best of luck to you!

'Teutonic' (Rob) on corner-carvers went with this guy: https://benzninja.com/. He said he was into it for $1070 by the time he was done. He bought this from alibaba: https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32884291274.html, a laptop, then the benzninja guy set up everything remotely.
