This is why it absolutely horrifies me when people don't wear seat belts, citing, "It's better to be thrown from the wreck." Yeah, right.
I always remember a 1963 - 64 Mercury hopping the rail at Daytona back when NASCAR was actually stock cars. Right up in the air at a 45 and down into nowhere with only a lap belt.

I seem to remember that. Not sure who the driver was. Cal Yarboriugh comes to mind. Don't know if he ever drove a Mercury though.
That video has been around a bit now, but I still love it. Great footage with a great song. It made me like AA Bondy even more, though I'm not sure how much he had to do with it.
