The photo I have linked below is the output from an M62 supercharger that I put in CAD. This particular one is from the M62 used on early C230s. The hatched areas are the openings in to the impellers. The lines around them are is the mounting flange. Where would be the best place to locate the tube above the openings to the impellers? I would like to use a 2.5" diameter tube. Should I make up some sort of conical piece that then transitions to the tube?

I see it but I dont get it. Where will you mount the unit? Is the discharge going to some sort of charge air cooler?

On my M90 I put the tube over the largest part of the opening. Seems to be working great so far. Ideally you want a nice smooth transition piece that offers the smoothest transition from the exact shape of the blower outlet to the 2.5" tubing, but in GRM land, holesawing a 2.5" hole in a falt plate and welding a piece of 2.5" tubing to it will get the job done if you don't have the tools. I do plan on improving mine in that manner, but it's going to take some time.

We need to talk more as that is the same installation I am looking at making.

I was thinking of the flat plate but putting some sort if baffle under the plate directing the air to the tube.

I would also by interested in how you mounted it. Do you gave a build thread

unit will be mounted similarly to the photo above and yes tgre will be an intercooler involved but all that is irrelevant to my question. I am simply wondering if there is an optimal placement of the tube in relation to the ports on the M62. Intuitivly I would put it off center over the largest part of the opening but I have learned that air flow and fluid dynamics are not always what you think and sometimes what looks wrong can be better. Look at the cathedral ports on a lsx head. First look and you are like no way these narrow things are going to work better but they do.

If the 8 internal sides of the flange are equal length it should be fairly easy to make a "pyramidal" shape to transition to your tube. To me that would be the easy way because you would not have to guess at the optimal position of the tube, it would end up centered in the flange area.

Here's what the factory pipes look like for that blower:

And here's some home made versions as examples (good, bad or otherwise):

I do have a build thread, It's not the best as I'm super lazy about taking pics and stuff while I'm building stuff. It's located here: 944 M90 S/C Build

Okay.

+10 for this one.
