New here, from Norcal. Been reading the site for as long as I can remember and figured I'd finally join the forums.

Driving an e36 and a diesel E70. The e36 is more for the track, the x5 for hauling dogs and parts. And the wife.

Used to hit the track a ton in the past few years but I've sadly not been to one yet all year :( . Hoping to change that sooner than later!

First post, it's cool to see that GRM is still around and kicking! It reminds me of my early motorsport days in the late 90's, autoxing my CR-X and getting the latest issue of GRM whenever I could afford it. There's some real nostalgia about GRM. My CR-X is long gone, having been replaced with a couple M3's, then later by a couple Porsches (981 Cayman S and 997.1 C2S). I don't autox anymore, ever since the local venue closed down. I get my motorsport needs on the sim rig now, which is a lot cheaper though not as visceral.

Hey Y'all

Dallas here Duterbd's brother.
I finally got around to registering and saving the login for the forum.
Michael and Steve and I built the 1980 AMC a few years ago back 2016-2019 idk which 2000$ challenge it was.
I'm a 3rd generation plumber and 3rd generation family business owner.  Based out of North Cakalacky.  Once Divorced & remarried a few years ago 4 kids and a beautiful redheaded wife that keeps me straight and let's me play with cars, my brothers and friends, and  large caliber boomsticks.
So glad to be here with a great community
I got on here to talk about my new projects and get real talk from the amazing group of people all y'all are!
I have about 6 or 7 new projects going as I type in various stages of repair and disrepair...
57 Ford 900 Tractor ,

inherited grandfather's 1952 Chevy 3100 5 window pickup,

1966 mustang gt from my high school days,

1988 350/350T 4x4 square body suburban, and 1979 4x4 diesel suburban ♥️🩸 donor truck.
And Finally impulse bought for the wife  a 2012 Honda Odyssey ex V6 which my American self needs real help and advice on improvements and upgrades and more performance.
my family has always been car nuts and car collectors we get one around doesn't matter what it is we tend to fix it up and just keep it... there's stray cars tractors and equipment everywhere lol 😂

I think yall understand how they just show up in the yard and just take up residence like a Tom cat.

Hello,

Been reading GRM mags for a few years. I like their technical articles and see the projects being worked on. Sometimes get some good ideas or inspiration, and i dont have to be in front of a screen!

Have 2001 Saturn that I used to autocross until i got tired of wheel bearings. Made it to a few SCCA Track nights years ago now. Now i just enjoy driving on the street. I do really miss the track nights.

Also have a 1977 LTD sedan, imported from Nebraska, pretty cool car. I decided i liked the model after being  given a 76' - rode very nice despite the step-thru aero floorboards and door bottoms (who needs a shower when you can bathe in splashed road water???)

Nebraska had a really cool zoo in Omaha.

I am a member of the Horseless carriage club of Nola, although i have great difficulty making it to a lot of the events unfortunately. the old 400 in that ford has the infamous block crack which i am resolving (with time and precious paper)

Anyway, lots of things to work on and maintain.

So happy motoring and hot rodding to you folks.

I’m kinda new.

I used to be pretty active on this message board, I used to autocross and hillclimb a couple of Dodge Omni GLH turbos. I used to volunteer at Challenge events.

Then life changed and I disappeared from the Motorsports arena

Now I’m kinda back. I don’t have a race car and I don’t know when I’ll get a car I can concentrate my time on. But I sure do love cars, racing and the people that love the same.

New here from Washington. A hot rod guy and life long race fan looking to get into the track scene. Wondering about the GTI MK5 as a first car to break in.

Anyone in the area of Olympia please reach out.

I just joined a few days ago. I kept hitting the subscription paywall doing my research on tires so I figured might as well :)

I'm in the "better tools than talent" category of folks with a newfound addiction to going fast in corners without worrying about the Popo!

I have a Tesla model S plaid modified with a new suspension , brakes, aero, wheels and tires. Very fun car that I am learning how to drive properly on track.

Hi all, introducing myself and my company since I just made an account! My name is Spencer Beckman and I grew up obsessing over cars, and not much has changed since. I have a Motorsport Engineering degree from Oxford Brookes University, and a lot of my friends from there currently work in F1 or other motorsport professions. I had wanted to start my own car company since I was 15, and that's what I did shortly after graduating. Now six years and even more iterations removed from that time, I am a co-founder of Shoreline Bespoke Vehicles based out of California. My business partner is a childhood friend with the same car obsession and we decided to combine both of our engineering brains, as well as my business knowledge and his manufacturing experience, to create a 1960's Le Mans Prototype reincarnated as a modern sports car. It's called Laguna, and we recently showed our prototype rolling chassis for the first time! Some pics below. Our website is shorelinebespoke.com if you care to follow along!

Hello to all

I'm new on here  , came across this forum when looking for info about a (cheap) fuse box and wiring harness.

I'm from Holland (Netherlands)

My name is Mees

I'm 43 years ,and working in my free time mostly on old stuff.

(Newest car doing maintenance on is a Kia cerato 2.0 from my wife  , and the oldest truck is a 52' GMC with Cummins under the hood.)

At the moment I'm putting my 73' Jeep j4000 back together after a total overhaul and drive line upgrade.

Cheers

Hello from the central coast of California. My name is Carl. I've had a subscription, paper version rocks for me, of GRM and saw that they have a forum. I have a 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 that I've been working on for 8 years so far. Usually for these cars, the dragstrip is the usual focus or numbers matching trailer queens. Neither of those is my path. My focus for the car is to be able to drive it at track events and autocrossing. The build and work on the car is fairly invloved. Some of my inspiration came from articles I've read in Racecar Engineering for a few of my ideas. Other ideas are from many other things I've learned over my vehicle education which never ends. I always learn new information which is one of the reasons I attend the SEMA show.

Hi, it's me--that guy I am! It's been a hot minute, but I'm happy to be back here on the forum (and resubscribed to the magazine). It's good to see some of you are still here (and hey, is that a new haircut? I like it!). I first arrived here back in 2008 or so, I think, and I brought a project that was supposed to be a $2008 Challenge Miata, but I didn't take it to Florida (from Pennsylvania) because I didn't think it would make the journey. Well, I drove that car for 9 years and like 100,000 miles before trading it (and some money) for a built Spec Miata, so boy was I wrong, and I wish I took the challenge!

Anyway, I wanted to get back into racing again (sold the Spec Miata ages ago), so I bought what I thought to be the most logical and obvious car to build into an SCCA racer: another Miata--er, no. Dang it. And old Audi A4 wagon. A station wagon. I am just finishing cobbling together my first roll cage in that car, and I'm now firmly in the build-don't-buy camp. What a fun experience that was!

Anyway, it's nice to be back.  (Hey, who here remembers our Forza 2 Spec Mini series?)

Hello.  New member here.  Not a longtime spectator, pedigreed engineer, or qualified expert in much of anything at all to do with motorsports.  What I have to offer is pretty narrowly focused, but tangible.  I am here to sell an old car (or three) and a slew of parts that my father left behind.  Given the vehicle involved, and for this purpose, another member suggested GRM.  I trust his judgment, so I am giving it a whirl.  Will post to the classified section.  Thank you for taking a look.

New to posting but been a lurker for a few years.  Made an account probably 4 or 5 years ago and never activated it untill a couple weeks ago.  Like most of you, I like all kinds of weird oddball cars.  Currently have a 90 volvo 740 wagon that I have been daily driving for 7.5 years, a 93 940 wagon project car (this one actually drives!), a 1971 F-350 crew cab project (does not drive) and a 1970 Lotus Europa project (has not seen the road since 1978 according to the original owner.).
