This one showed up at the used car dealer, 546,000 kms and still going. It runs great but the 4wd doesn't seem to be working. It shows the VSC and TSC lights are on and when you put in in 4wd the dash indicator for the 4 wheel drive just flashes. I'm tempted to pick it up cheap but not sure what's involved to fix it. I dove it about 80km's and temps were good and seemed to brake and steer well. It's auto but it shifts well, I was really hoping it would be stick. Here's a pic:

The are vacuum actuated on those models. Could be vac lines, could be the actuator, the control box is on the fender on one side (i don't remember which) two vac lines coming from the front diff. But the fact the VSC and TSC lights are on makes me think its the TC/4x4 ECU.
That depends how inexpensive it is. Prices down here are all over the map, depending on model and year. The wheels make it look like a limited. If it is one of the ones with a locking rear (an option on the Limiteds in 1999-2000 in the US, I think), they are more sought after than others.

I just checked the rest of my pictures and it's an SR5.
Iirc the shaft that moves in and out of the transfer case on these gets bound and 4wd wont engage, the fix is to clean and lube the shaft, then use 4d more frequently to keep it freed up.

It's had the wheels swapped and it looks like it may have a lift kit on it, too.
65,000Kms more and you'll have what my 4Runner has.
It could be a dead wheel speed sensor triggering all of those lights too.
