This:

Plus this:

Basically use the Biturbo for the sheet metal, interior, and suspension. Use the Mustang for all electrics and propulsion.

Interesting car with a reliable, reasonably powerful, engine.

I could probably bring it in for under Challenge money.

Anyone know how big the engine bay is a 80s Biturbo is?

I'm sure a hammer, sawz-all, and a welder could make it big enough.

Waiting for build thread.

The only thing I have to add is that it's a Maserati BiTurbo

If a person could cram an SN95 under a Justy, the same could be done for a Biturbo.

Although I'd cram a BMW 318i under a Biturbo. Just to confuse the hell out of everyone who looks at it. (Bonus points for replacing all Maserati badging with BMW)

GT Mustang. Doing some reading, it looks like it would probably require cutting the firewall to stuff a V8 in there.

The Mustang already has a serviceable firewall, does it not?

Not this one. It's 10 inches narrower than it should be.

They are a dime a dozen in the scrap yard though...

The BiTurbo engine is a 120deg V so it is a wider than typical engine bay. Should be plenty of height since they stacked the ridiculous airbox on top of the motor.

I don't see a build thread. I should be seeing a build thread.

The only reason not to do this is if it would slow down progress on SanFord.

Got the BiTurbo home yet? Planning on another epic road trip driving it home? If you do you'll be my hero.

I haven't been able to find any information about the size of the Maserati's engine bay. I don't suppose one of you gents has one laying about, they could throw a tape measure on? The one I'm looking at is 3 hours away from me.

The SOHC 4.6 looks to be 29"L, 26.9"W, 28.6"T.

This is a non running junker, driving it isn't a option. The real fun part is I just sold my tow rig. Whoops.

Methinks your avatar pretty much covers this one.

That said, here is a link to a person who was thinking along the same lines, albeit a slightly different flavour.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the ford 302 (wait is it 302 or Mod motor in your car?) sump should be happy in this hole.

That engine bay is TINY, I had a spider that I had planned to swap a 1UZFE into but backed away. The biturbo engine is weirdly shape/size and it wasn't designed for anything else!

In reply to NOHOME:

Mod motor. The width shouldn't be a issue. It looks like the length and the transmission tunnel will be the killer.

I would want to keep the interior looking mostly stock. That might be hard to do if I have to hack the firewall and transmission tunnel out of the car.

I see a big multi-colored tow rig in a few of those driveway pictures...

I keep looking out for a cheap Biturbo convertible to pick up and play with... even if I had to replace the engine, I just love the look of the cars. I also look forward to the build thread.
