Last Saturday, I volunteered at the inaugural race of a new class of off-road racing. It's called "Bro-Lite", and it's pretty damn cool. There are only 5 trucks right now (all stripped-down 2wd, 4-cylinder, 5-speed Rangers), but we all had a blast. Search "Bro-Lite" on faceybooks for a lot more info and videos and stuff.

I heard about this. It's quite intriguing. I'd be interested if it was to catch on.

some of my cousins and a bunch of their friends were doing this about 10 years ago... with 2wd Rangers, no less, because at that time people were practically giving them away.. they made a track of sorts out in the field at one of their houses and spent entire weekends out hooning around... sometimes they built jumps, which sometimes led to trucks that were bent in half..

That looks fun. Are the trucks holding up to the abuse?

I like it. The owner of 311 Motor Speedway in nc is building a "Dirt Road Course" for "U-cars", ATV's and maybe even your type of racing. They are listening to all suggestions. Check out 311 Speedway on Facebook.

Not new at all, we raced trucks like this in central Illinois with MAORA back in the late 80's to early 90's. That's when the mini class was starting in SODA out of Wisconsin too. Great idea until someone wants a little more power, followed by a little more wheel travel, then you end up with Prolites.

I know those guys! Actually a few of them came to one of our rallycrosses last year with one of the Bro-lite trucks and another pre-runner type toyota. They didn't win at rallycross with all the tight turns, but looked like a lot of fun. I plan to try to get to one of their events one of these days. And/or convince them to let me try out the e30 rallykar on the course (and yeah, they get some air on their course :) )

I'll also note that the guys who run that series do some seriously AWESOME custom rock-crawler builds with some really cool custom fabrication.
