I mean, I'm used to rejection but geez...
Dear plance1, Unfortunately your registration at KillBillet.com "The Rat Rod Forum Dedicated to fun, low budget, traditional, rusty, patina Rat Rods and Old School Hot Rods built with junk yard parts." did not meet our membership requirements. Therefore your registration was deleted. Sorry,KillBillet.com "The Rat Rod Forum Dedicated to fun, low budget, traditional, rusty, patina Rat Rods and Old School Hot Rods built with junk yard parts."
Did they get ahold of my credit report? Talk to some of my ex-girlfriends? I wonder how I couldn't have met the requirements? I would be annoyed but I'm mostly amused.
I have gotten similar emails from.
http://www.roadraceautox.com/ ---but then again, they have a really weird registration system as well.

I think they have a post in the new members section that you have to read and follow to sign up. They get massive spammer accounts.
Meh, you'd do better to join the HAMB.

And never utter the words 'rat rod' again.
I think I'm already on HAMB. What would a spammer want with being on a web forum, not sure I get it, what exactly does a spammer do when he or she gets access to a website? Post flattering articles about Echos?Propose a claim rule for the challenge????

just say stupid crap that doesnt make sense but has product placement in it.
Spambots on forums FTL.
About a year ago I was having trouble with my Cougar - the doors would just random lock themselves when it got cold - and I couldn't find the answer on Newcougar.org so I figured I'd try asking on Contour.org since the Cougar is basically a two door Contour. I signed up, posted my question and then the next day got an email saying my thread had been deleted and my account cancelled because "you are not the Contour.org type of person" or something ridiculous. What's next, I get a pre-emptive rejection email from tempotopaz.com?
Alot of forums will reject your application if you use an email from hotmail, yahoo, gmail, etc because they're easy to use for spam. You have to use an email from your ISP or work or school or something. Could that be the reason your application got rejected?

Funny, I've tried to register at Special Stage roughly annually for the last five years or so with similar results. Weird.
I applied for Media access to Chrysler's Press Room and got an automated rejection letter within minutes. There was an email address at the bottom that was for "reconsideration". I emailed back stating that they might want to reconsider. I sent them a link to AutoTrader Classics website. "See the guy on the homepage, that's me, I control all the content that goes on that site plus I have my own editorial column." I added that I already have access to Ford and GM press information and that I average 36k unique visitors a day. I got a "Welcome to the Press Room" email within 5 minutes.
If I had been shut out again I'd have doubled my GM and Ford coverage.
I tried registering for the Spec Boxster forum last week after the Boxster thread poped to the top again. That site wont accept my gmail address, but doesn't seem to have any link on the home site for me to try and get it resolved.

I'm admin for a local club forum, and I have to delete at least 10 applications for everyone I approve. I let one thru by accident, and every section of the forum was hijacked by some really objectionable material. If I had $1 for every cheap pharmacy, Vyagra sales person and gmail account that was a spammer, I could buy a Hi-cost, never mind a Locost.
Some forums require that you read the rules first, and theres a "hidden" message instructing the person to include key words in their registration. I know this was the case on cornercarvers.

Hmmm, they never put me through that, but later on I did get banned for my thoughts on a hot political topic.
I wonder if the keywords are "suck it!"

Yet another reason this is the best damn board out there.
(They give points for sucking up here, right?)
My 2 cents:
whenever I see XXXXXXGMAIL.COM, my first thought is SPAM.
Sorry, but (over?)exposure to Craigs, seems to give folks that impression. Just my luck, tho, my sister has an account with gmail.com....
I've been solicted to "write?"/contribute to, 2 or 3 websites. 1 was legit, the others read like "backdoor" attempts to get something from me besides stories on cars.
Can you really fault folks for being careful? But having said that, I wish folks would stop the practice of screening mail that contains "suspect" key words.
I am a mod on another forum and you would not believe the problems with spam that have happened. The main reason I am a mod is to hunt down spam.
Let one in and things can go bad fast. Give them 24 hour access and you can spend hours cleaning up.
In reply to njansenv:
The hidden message thing is understandable, but seeing this on their registration page made me decide to not bother registering:
"Approval of registration does not happen overnight nor is there a guarantee that it will happen within 48 hours (or two weeks). If you would like to participate on the board, patience is a virtue and a strong recommendation. New accounts are activated at the boards earliest convenience, not yours."
That's just asinine. I'm a member of about a dozen online forums and none of them treat people like this. I've also done my share of forum and blog management, so I know what a hassle spam can be. Still, there are better ways of handling spam besides making people feel unwelcome.

neither, both sites are full of douchebags at opposite ends of the spectrum.

Is this the same as PIITB?
Sorry, I had to go there........

Assuming that you're refering to Cornercarvers, that place is something of an aquired taste. It's kind of like being a member of a gang. - A gang consisting of generally very smart people who have a lot to offer, but who also take a bit of sadistic pleasure in administering beatdowns. I participated avidly for several years, then just got weary of some of the attitudinal dynamics. That said, I still take a good bit of pleasure in the lurker role. As a participant, I prefer the kinder, gentler climes of GRM.

It's unfortunate that this is the case, because gmail is such a better mail utility than any other that I have used. It is quick to navigate, has huge storage space, and is very mobile.
