If the Chrysler K Platform is like a leather vest, then the G Platform–which underpins the Chrysler Laser and this car for sale, the Dodge Daytona–is what you get when you add leather sleeves to that vest: A (somewhat) cooler leather jacket.

One of 250 produced for 1992, this Dodge Daytona IROC stands in near-perfect factory condition with only 3436 …

When it comes to FWD Daytonas, flip-up headlights or not?

Those seats look PLUSH.

I think the headlights on this Daytona are fitting for the early '90s, though it's hard to turn down flip-up headlights.

I'd love a sporty Mopar. Wish Stellantis would remember cars like this.

This car looks deeply concerned about something. Those headlights just look kind of derpy.

In reply to NickD :

Yeah, a bit derpy. But also more or less inline with the rest of the brand’s period offerings.

One of my friends dad had one, don't remember what year. He let us take it out one time.

I think they were rated at 230 hp at the time, but they sure felt quicker than that to a couple of 17-year olds.

And 230 horsepower was rather healthy in 1992.

(A stock 1992 Mustang GT made 205 horsepower although 275 lb.-ft. of torque.)

Did some of these come with the DOHC turbo? Or was that the Spirit RT?

IIRC, the Spirit R/T and Daytona IROC R/T had the twin-cam Turbo III engine. The regular IROC had the single-cam engine.

Flip up headlights and factory plant bed edging ground effects please.

Actually I'm changing my answer. Sunken headlights and plant bed edging in a two-tone. Peak Daytona.

That an a Mopar foam-front, mesh-back cap, and you’re set.

So many memories of having to lift the doors up as you shut them after the A pillars sagged with age.

Roll the window down and close it by holding the window frame up.

Yep. When you say IROC this is the car everyone immediately thinks of.

As far as pop up headlights. Nope, never.

pop-up headlights are objectively worse in every single measurable way.

Some people say they give your car character. I guess that's true, but only if that character is man-receiving-a-surprise-prostate-exam.

Very healthy. Our beloved SE-R's during the same time frame were rated at 140 hp.

I dislike how the front seems to sit too high. I realize it's to clear curbs, but it bothers me. And the white car actually looks under-tired.

However, when I think IROC I think Camaro.
