Is an X-1/9 alternator the same? Any other cars use the same one? I went to change the hackjob homemade brackets on the car only to find that the PO installed the wrong alternator. A Yugo alternator is 72mm between the ears, the one that came off is more like 64.

In reply to Kenny_McCormic:
Yes you can use the fiat Alt.
Or a GM alt with some mods.

I think I have one or two out in the garage....
I thought the x19 alt was the same but wasn't sure as they didn't come up on rock auto as the same. I'm not about to hack up my new to me set of correct brackets to run a GM alt when a new one that drops in is $38 on Rock Auto(1980 x19 alt).

The Fiat alt will work. You just have to change the hot wire pig tail.
look up the alternator on www.rockauto.com and click on the part numbers of the parts that come up to see what all they fit..
if you want more specific listings, do the same thing on the AC Delco website (if they even make an alternator for that).
Another interchange Q. Will a X 1/9 thermostat work? The Yugo one looks about the same, and costs 3x as much.
