You guys are going about this the wrong way. I want something that will run on anything flammable and doesn't have fancy anything to leave me stranded. Ala:
There are tons of these floating around in the US and with some well thought out armor would make a great, if a tad slow, multi-person ZAV.

Those could work. Run as far north as you can and hope the shufflers freeze. If nothing else it should slow them down.

I will take that one please... 4WD, good ground clearance. probably availible with a diesel, and room to sleep in the back (and run a protected portapotty so the zombies do not catch up with you at your most vulnerable moments)

Will also run on filtered grease. All the fast food restaurants are your filling stations.
Most of these choices would be problematic because the roads will be clogged with abandoned vehicles.
Diesel/JP8 KLR650. Find fuel anywhere and be able to take almost any trail/avoid clogged roads etc. Easy to fix with Jbweld or basic tools. Easy to hide if you need to etc. It also gets 96mpg at 55mph

Cant carry much, and unless you keep a fleet of them you will be alone with nobody to watch your back.
I happen to have a fleet of them (though not specifically in preparation for a Z.A.).

Honestly I think that a larger yacht with a sail and motor would be the prefect ZAV. I mean you never hear of zombies swimming and plus if you get out to see, how would they know you were out there. You could fish for food and you have unlimited power cause of the wind. You have the motor if you really need to GTFO. You would have land for water though but you could find empty areas to get water. Like this.

You make a really good point, but most of us would have to get to the coast first (could go to the great lakes?).
