Looking to buy one of the most Beautiful / Radical bikes ever produced.

I know they have started making an updated version, but I love the original.

Pic for attention.

I too love the look of them. The 19in front tire meant that it took more effort and planning to change direction than a freight train. I really dig the sweep of the speedo / tach needles.

I see them available occasionally, but they're $$$$$.  I know of one that might be available.  How much are you prepared to spend?

In reply to stroker : I was hoping for $8,000 but I wouldn't mind a project

Doubt you'll find one for that.  Last one I saw they were asking $16K.

A lot depends on condition, also higher mileage can reduce the value.  I sold my 1982 Katana in 2020; it was in decent unrestored condition but hadn't been run for a few years and had high miles, and it would have been within Spitsix's budget.

(note: US market Katanas were 1000cc in 1982 and 1100cc in 1983.  They sold them for many more years in the JDM market, so importing one may be another possibility.  They even  had a 250cc JDM Katana that looked exactly like you left a full size Katana in the dryer too long.)

German design body?  Friend had one, thought he said that.

Hans Muth, IIRC. So, yes.

Looks like my memory wasn't wrong: https://www.cycleworld.com/story/bikes/hans-muth-and-suzuki-katana-connection/

I'd love to get my hands on one of the JDM ones with the flip up headlight.

In reply to myf16n :

The seller claims over $7,000 in paint and bodywork, and over $35,000 in parts and labor in the restoration of that bike.  I know those things are expensive, but I suspect the seller is exaggerating a little.

It seems to be a lot, but then NOS parts for desirable 70s and 80s bikes (especially Japanese ones) are getting really rare and expensive.

Still a lot of money for a GS1100 with irreplaceable bodywork...

Poor phrasing on my part--I was thinking fuel tanks.  My bad.
