'80s wheel appreciation thread

BBS RS, thanks to EvanB for finding this car for me!

BBS E72, went out of production in 89, I was stoked to find ten of them at a yard sale...

Southern ways Epsilon, these were listed as Enkeis on Craigslist since the logo is a fanciful "e"

Mangels, same as the fittipaldis, these were everywhere in the eighties

Borbet Type C

Can't do better than AMG Pentas or Ronal R9, favorite car I've ever owned.

Centra type 11, these had the cars logo attached to the center cover...usually in gold lol

BBS Mahle, technically a 70's wheel but they were on lots of E24/w126/911 in the eighties

9" et 11 didn't work well in the front, back was great.

Favorite wheel ever, Volk CV-Pro / GRC. I've had twenty sets

Old wheels look fine on new cars, these have a 91 build date but were designed in the 80s

dp engineering Pacifics, these came from someone here on the forums and are now on a show car in Europe. He was so excited to find them just as I was!

RS in white, these are later Japanese BBS RS for the Honda market

Etoille (late American Gotti) these came and went after gotti sold the design to Ronal USA

Enkei (I can't remember the type), I bought a ranger to get these haha

Also technically 70's wheels, nicest ones I've ever seen though. And they were on a 80's turbo originally (supposedly)

chandlerGTi: how the heck are you finding all of these? I checked prices on CL near the two biggest cities by me and they are outrageously expensive.

Well, Those pics are from the last ten years since I started using photobucket. Deals do show up but buying damaged ones or pairs and sitting on them untill another pair shows up is usually cheaper. I have a couple hundred wheels sitting here right now that are unsellable because no one wants "three" cool wheels or they need to be staggered and I have four of one size. I hit twenty or so forums classifieds every morning and again at night trying to find matches or cool sets well priced. It's like a second job; but I love it! Look at some of these wheels!

Here, in the background is a rack of castoff wheels. I know what's there and also look for more to make sets or replace damaged ones

Oh dear god, apparently we really do need to get together. I have an ongoing hunt for 13x7 or 13x8 race wheels for El Rabbito. Thinking panasport c8 or other old school deep dish stuff.

Guess I know who I'm going to when I need something weird and 4x100.
