I believe "Shut your pie hole" is needed here.

Yes. But, I don't love 1911s either though. They shoot well but are heavy and bulky so mine is a range-only type thing.
I love the H&K USP .40 S&W for "all the things".
Same for you.
I have shot Gl*cks, but they don't work for me. Sigs are another story.... I'd take a 226 or 227 in a heartbeat. But I'm not a snob.... shoot what you like. HEll, I still like wheel guns. Give me a SAA on .45LC and I'll be happy.
I'm a fan of my P226. Everything but EDC, it's just a bit too big for that.
I don't need one but I'm pretty sure a Smith & Wesson 629 with Pachmeyer grips and a 6" barrel is the perfect wheel gun. (bonus points for being completely intimidating)

On my 40th b-day I got to shoot my first sigs. I loved the 228. If I was going to change calibers (I'm a .45 guy) I'd rock a 228 and Hi-power. Still want that hi-power though. I mean... John Mother F'n Browning.
Just so long as we all agree that Glocks are plastic garbage.

DUH. That's like saying water is wet or fire is hot.

A Springfield M1A is going to be 99% of the gun for 50% of the price.
If you want to spend the extra money for a forged weapon, look into the LRB produced units, too.

My coworkers and I have decided that we'd buy something like a Camp Carbine using Glock magazines chambered for 22 TCM.
Just sayin'.

Me too.
The first weapon I ever purchased was a MKIII Hi Power when I was in the Army around 94. Along with my GTV6, that is the only thing I have ever sold that I regretted so a couple of years ago I got another P35. This one is not going anywhere.

I still want hte CAmp Carbine in .45. They used 1911 magazines. That to me would be the perfect combo.

Bought a nice Hi Power in the early '90's. The only keeper in my inventory.
Now looking for a 1911.

In my recent search for camp carbines, the price is around $1K, and a little research indicates QC was worse than hi point. I would love to see the concept come back as seemingly all current pistol cal carbines are not NY SAFE legal.
There's a carbine upper that you attach to a 1911 lower. Available in 45 and I think 9MM. American Rifleman had an article on it a few months ago.

Glocks, 1911s, and Sprindfield XDs.

shrug I realize glocks are a "love it or hate it" thing. For me, I'm dead-nuts accurate with them in every caliber/size combo I've tried.
While literally everyone I've ever shot with is a huge fan of the 1911, I am not. Inevitably, I hear "Oh, but you haven't tried THIS one!"
They don't fit my hand right, I HATE the safety(s,) and I've never been as accurate with one as I am with the 21.
YMMV.
In reply to poopshovel again:
all the same things you have issue with the 1911's are why I can't stand Glcks. I joke and make fun of Glck people, but there's nothing wrong with them. They don't fit me.
My #1 problem was I grew up in an era where toy guns were common and I had a plastic fullsize 1911 (with plastic cavalry flap-style holster) that I played with for years. Anything but a 1911 grip, grip angle or feel is 100% wrong for me.
In reply to Bobzilla:
I get it. I WANT to like them. I've tried so hard!!! They're just not for me.
FWIW, I would never tell anyone "You NEED a glock." Accuracy and reliability are the name of the game for me.
Of all the people I've shot with, only one is a fellow glock douche...err...nerd...guy

There's a correct answer in here of the only good thing about 1911's is that you can get them in 38 super and 10mm......and the only proper 1911's are made by Sig Sauer

LRB's lowest level is $800 more than a James River.....And I want no part of Springfield......berkeley them.
I'm a Glock fan all the way. For simplicity and durability I'd say a Glock 19 is hard to beat, and I like being able to tuck my 42 into my waistband without worrying about it being obvious. And I love the triggers. That being said, I've got no experience with 1911's, and they are definitely the more beautiful/elegant gun. Bobzilla, that top one is just gorgeous. Gotta get some range time with a 1911 someday, for sure.
In reply to sethmeister4:
How has your g42 experience been? I loved the size of mine, but mine had cycling issues. I sent it back to Glock, got it back, and had the same problem. Took nearly 600rds before it became reliable enough for me to trust carrying.
To be honest, I'm not even going to care anymore about printing. People in general are oblivious these days and full size pistols offer you higher capacity and far better control. My CZ P-09 is bigger than a g17, yet its concealable.
In reply to WOW Really Paul?:
I bought mine used, probably should have just sprung for a new one so I could get all the warranty work done. I haven't put as many rounds through it as I would like, but it has been reliable when I have shot it. No issues at all with FMJ, and even the hollow points have fired fine, but sometimes it is picky about taking the first round from the mag. I let my CCW permit expire a few months ago, and am in the process of renewing it now, so I'm hoping to get to the range with multiple types of JHP to see what it really likes so I'm ready to carry again soon. I may also take it to a Glock armor and make sure all of the updates are done. After that it's just range time and more range time. I really love the size and how it shoots, and it's just a great size for me (5'9", 170ish lbs). I'd like to start carrying appendix, or at least try it, so we'll see. I live in a warm climate, so summer time is t-shirt and shorts, and it's easier to hide. I do like to carry my 19, that gun feels like it was made for me, I just can't hide it too well on my small/med body. Plus 9mm is much cheaper, so I like that.
