The last  fireworks went off at 10:45 and not a single one since.  

The new neighborhood turns out to be a good deal worse than the old one in terms of amateur faux artillery. Didn't go too far beyond midnight, but started around four, and was pretty heavy from nine to midnight, with a lot of mortars sounding like they went off within the block. The poor dog was a shivering, panting wreck despite being on both trazodone and clonidine.

I'll set myself a calendar reminder to book a room in the fireworks-on-the-third town next year, probably for two nights since it's not like tonight's going to be quiet.

There's apparently a bill here to expand the holidays around which fireworks can be sold. My gut is against it, but if it went hand in hand with much stronger enforcement around illegal fireworks, I might be okay with it. Not that that's how it's written now. It's just the stuff I can't choose to avoid without hundreds of dollars of travel I object to.

Thanks, they weren't my finest work, I had to be gentle with the rub because kids are eating it and I overcooked them by trusting my new thermometer but they were still very tasty.

The 2 smaller ones (8 lbs each) got pulled and sent with swmbo hheading down to her moms.  The big one will be pulled to take to the build party at Patrick's tomorrow.

I went to a bbq at a friends house yesterday.  My son and I are at the lake today thru Monday.  Saw a decent amateur-but-not (licensed) show in the neighborhood here.  Everyone in the neighborhood comes out to watch, and there were about 20-30 boats gathered in the cove.  Very classy and havent heard a single one go off since it ended around 9:45.

Side note.  My son has that powerwheels (a gift from someone).  That picture is the steering at full lock.  Its turning radius is like 100 feet lol.

We have two of these type vehicles and both have dismal turning radius. 

The 'burnout' capabilities are impressive though!  Those plastic wheels have zero traction.
