Here at work we have a whole bunch of whole-bean hipster coffees, a grinder, and a bunch of different ways to make said coffee (Chemex, Aeropress, drip-coffee maker). I like some of the darker roasts but the light roasts are too acidic - like drinking a Molotov cocktail with a Zippo chaser. So I started bringing some of my own: Yeah, I work in tech, can't you tell? But both Death Wish and Valhalla Java are super-tasty in addition to having enough caffeine to make a newbie peer into infinity. I'm still looking for a less caffeinated dark roast for the days I don't need the rocket fuel. As for donuts? Kane's in Boston and Heav'nly Donuts in the Merrimack Valley both dunk Dunks into the clown tank.

I love DeathWish, but I don't like the Valhalla Java as much. The caffeine content is great, and I've found it's not such a jittery feeling as I get from energy drinks and stuff.

DD funds the Civic Center in Providence, RI. I'm not normally a Dunkin' customer, but here in RI, where we had some of the first DD franchises many, many years ago, when you order a "regular," whether hot or cold, it's pretty consistent (a regular is with cream and sugar here). I like my hot coffee dark roast and black. No sugar. I prefer iced coffee with cream and sugar. So if I go to DD in the summer (rarely), I'll order a medium iced "regular." But regardless, I prefer Starbucks or homemade.

Incidentally, the biggest DD franchiser in SoNE lives in East Greenwich, RI, and is a (very, very wealthy) MGA vintage racer.

Other than that, the OP is a good candidate for the "Minor Rant" thread with this one.

I drink decaf sometimes. I like the flavor of coffee. I suppose if you don't actually like the taste of coffee then maybe you wouldn't see the point in decaf.

Usually I drink aero press Bustelo. Strong and black enough to hide the spoon stirring in the two tablespoons of heavy whipping cream. Mmm mmm

Still do and it is MUCH MUCH better than Dunkin. And any size for $1.00.

Sadly, not here. Here it's $1.80, and it's a thin watery coffee.

It's only medicinal in most states back east, so no coffee shops just yet.

I've always said decaf coffee is hot, brown water. Why bother?

So all of you guys saying decaf is just hot brown water must hate the taste of coffee. Decaf actually tastes exactly like regular coffee, since caffeine is completely tasteless. So why bother drinking it at all if you hate the taste of coffee? If all you want is the caffeine rush, there are many other ways to get that. The taste of coffee is all about the bean, the brew and what you put in it.

Guess I don't get it. "Manly" or "girly" coffee just makes no sense to me. I drink what tastes good to me. I drank regular coffee many years ago, but am now medically forbidden from having it...it'll make me sick. But I still like the taste of coffee, so decaf works great for me. And I like my coffee like I like my women...light and a bit sweet, but not too sweet.

And as said earlier in the thread, WaWa has the best coffee, but they don't exist here in GA. So on the rare occasion I go out for coffee, it's Dunkin Donuts. What's cool about drinking decaf is I get a fresh pot every time, so no stale coffee for me.

First Dunkin' Doughnuts doesn't make doughnuts. The make failure cakes with a hole in the middle. Second their first attempt at a decent coffee was burnt ass water. I am sure this new stuff will be the same.

Now excuse me while I cry quietly from missing Dorignacs' doughnuts.

Back in the day, if it was just the caffeine you needed, they had you taken care of at the Lazy B (Boeing).

They had these self serve dispensaries, with things like headache pills, antacids, etc. They also had these cold pills, essentially Sudafed (the real stuff) along with what the label said was "caffeine, to keep the worker alert."

Wash a couple of those pink bad boys down with a Mountain Dew, and you'd vibrate the rest of the afternoon.

Boeing (Everett Plant) was also the only place I've ever worked with an institutionalized cardiac recover program. Don't know if that was related or not.

You might find a good donut at DD, if you want a great one you'll need to find a local independent bakery.

It could be. I was reading a book on WW2 that said there were more deaths in production than on the battlefield with a surprising number of managers dropping dead of heart attacks.

I can't eat a Dunkin Donut they give me terrible heartburn. They're the only ones that do it. On the plus side I heard on the news this morning they are adding more egg product to their eggs.

Given I had a taste of what passes for a donut at DD driving back home, it was the one at the Markette on 73? east of Florence SC, eating a bag of rotten fertilizer would have had less chemical taste.

If they would just quit selling shipped from a thousand miles away and kept frozen until 30 sec before given to a customer they might be at least edible.

Next time you come downtown in the morning, find the Firecakes truck or Donut Vault truck. Get their original/buttermilk donut, and one other. You can call me a hipster all you want, but I've never had better donuts in my life.

Timely thread, I just stopped off for an ice coffee at DD this morning and noticed the new little "try me" sign with their cold brew and was offered it during their little mandatory order intro.

I passed and got the traditional stuff. Maybe it was a miscommunication on your store's part?

You haven't been to country donuts in downtown Crystal Lake. I'd take the Pepsi challenge with them verses anyone else any day.

I treat donuts like pizza and sex: even if it's still bad, it's a donut. Hoastess, Dunkin Donuts, gas station, I don't care.

The worst part of my job is filling the smoked fish. Our Kosher case is next to the donut display. I couldn't resist the Snickerdoodle or Blueberry Crumb earlier.
