Over the weekend I set up this FreeNAS to go along with the 2T version of this Iomega StorCenter.
You can access the Iomega from the web and FreeNAS can do some cool stuff.

I set up a FreeNAS on a refurbished 1U Server, 4 1 Tb WD RE Hard Drives in a RAID that give's me just almost 2 Tb of storage.
The most expensive thing was the hard drives, and you don't have to use enterprise level hardware, so it can all be done way cheaper than I did. I just wanted reliable RAID hence the RE drives, you can use a single drive if you don't care about redundancy. FreeNAS is free, stick it on a thumb drive, stick it in any old PC with a USB port, NIC, & hard drive, after initial set-up, FreeNAS appears as a drive, just like any other Windoze machine on your network.
For off-site, I had been pleased with Mozy, until I reached my cap for their free service. I then whittled down what I wanted auto backed up to the essentials, photos, documents, a select few other files, zipped them and added them to a folder that Mozy saved once a week.
I also manually keep back-ups of important documents on both Drop Box and Google Drive.
