Has ANYONE heard of these Turkish Hi-Power clones being imported, yet? I've had one on back order for literally years...
In reply to stroker :
The Girsan P35? They look to be in-stock pretty much everywhere...

I am as well. I will report in after I hit the range this week.
I am REALLY excited to get this out and shoot it. Traded or should I say returned a M4 to its previous owner for this. The M4 felt big heavy and a bit clunky (as it should). It is a fantastic shotgun and I may someday get another. This is its supper-car cousin. Fast, light, and handles fantastic. I can not wait to try this in competition. I am also really interested to see how it does in trap and skeet. I think it will be particularly good at getting those low fast rabbits.
In reply to Rodan :
1911s are great! The platform is comfortable and versatile. I own a bunch in various calibers and acknowledge my own bias, but for a semiauto handgun that is a pleasure to shoot they're hard to beat.
In reply to brandonsmash :
Yup. I've been shooting 1911s for many years and carried one daily for a long time. I do think some of the modern designs have surpassed them in utility for carry, but I still love shooting them, and have several. 'Commander' sized are my favorite...
I ordered a replacement tube for the M2 last night. The one on it is designed for a something like a plus 10. In my state you can only have a total of 5 plus 1 so ordered the plus 2 extension tube to replace the one on it that is currently full of plastic stops. This will take weight off it. Yes I know recoil may be fun but I am hoping that is not much of an issue and that the change will move the balance back further adding more speed/quickness. I can always put the current tube back on if I don't like it. Or add weights to my liking. We will see how this works out.
In reply to dean1484 :
Gas guns like the Benelli don't recoil too badly to begin with. Taking all that weight off the front will have a bigger benefit.
In reply to Rodan :
You're spot-on. I have carry guns and 1911s, but rarely would I choose to carry one; material and design advancements in the past 100 years are not to be scoffed at. My preference for shooting is a Commander size as well, though I have a couple Government models in the safe(s).
Do you stick to .45 or branch out in the 1911 platform?
In reply to brandonsmash :
I have one Commander (Ruger) in 9mm, and one of the Walther/Colt .22 1911s, but all my other 1911s are .45. The Original Recipe is still the best...
In reply to dean1484 :
My mistake, I thought the M2 was gas like the M4. My last 'inertia' shotgun was a Remington 11-48 30+ years ago. It definitely soaked up some recoil, but I'm guessing with another 3 decades of progress the M2 will be pretty nice!
In reply to Rodan :
I have not used this system either. It should be really interesting to compare to my son's 590S that he has been using for trap. Since I don't have the M4 anymore I can not do a side-by-side with it. It is less than 24 hours since I made the trade and I am seriously thinking of getting another M4. That thing was just so cool but the reality is I probably will not use it much.
In reply to Rodan :
I do have a Colt Government in .45. I also have a couple in .22 TCM, one in 9mm, and one in 10mm. For a while I did have dalliances with .400 Cor-bon and .460 Rowland, but now I pretty much limit my wildcatting to .22 TCM.
What really intrigues me, though, and that has been out of reach has been a Coonan. .357 in a 1911 sounds great!
Do you find your .22 1911 to feed reliably?

All of mine have been .45
The only auto-loading shotgun I have is a 1908 manufacture Remington Model 11. Kicks like a mule with #7 bird shot. I just love watching slowmo videos of those actions.
In reply to brandonsmash :
I bought the Walther/Colt .22 1911 as a cheap, fun plinker 1911 that I could shoot with a suppressor, and I've been pleasantly surprised. I mostly shoot CCI SV in my .22s, and the 1911 runs just fine with them. It's not the most accurate thing in the world, but adequate for the mission. And did I mention they're cheap?
By comparison, I have a TacSol .22 conversion for 1911s that's more accurate, but super finicky on ammo, and uses a (very expensive) proprietary magazine. Both the conversion and mags are now out of production. I sold a Kimber .22 conversion to buy the TacSol years ago, and I still regret it. I need to find a Kimber conversion so I can reverse that process...
In reply to Rodan :
I've got a .22 conversion. Works better on the compact than it does on the full size then again the compact has many many more rounds through it than the FS.

How go you like the 22tcm?
In reply to stroker :
The tisas came out and haven't come back, I have a Girsan p35 match that's pretty nice for what it is.
In reply to Brandonsmash:
I split time with carry guns but one in that rotation is a single stack 1911 in 10mm. It either gets carried with warm Underwood ammo or my personal favorite Sig* ammo.
*Asterisk because they start as new production Sig ammo, which is barely more than 40sw. I take those down to components, run the same powder charge as my fmj reloads(180gr around 1375fps), then reassemble.

Me 2.
In reply to Antihero :
I'm a huge fan of .22 TCM! It's an angry little round that goes like stink with very little recoil. Right now I have a couple 1911s chambered in .22 TCM (a double-stack and single-stack); in the next couple weeks I'm hoping work is finished on 2 AR-platform firearms I commissioned chambered in the same round. One is an 8.5" barrel and the other is 16" built around New Frontier lowers and Glock magazines.
