I'm not going to argue the safety aspect, but I have yet to come across a Miata that is anything like a 7 to drive - and the Miatas can't touch the 7s on our local track either.

I don't think you can make them street legal over here but that would make a fun and fairly inexpensive Miata-based trackday car:
Edit: Dang, there's even a US distributor for them. And they're not expensive, even if you add in the cost of a crashed or rusted out Miata.
The problem with the exocet is that it is heavier, slower and more expensive than a traditional miata based locost. Plus it is ugly as sin.
