Thompson (CT), I believe, had the first dedicated road course in the country. It fell into disrepair, but they continued oval racing there for many, many years. Within the past few years, they have rebuilt the road course. I haven't been back since then, but the Porsche Club, among others, has been holding events there.
Connecticut is not very big, but it's a total PITA to get to Thompson from where I live.

Cars in first Thompson Ct photo are a red Stanguelini F. Jr., a yellow Elva 100 Jr. Lola, Lotus Osca,Maserati A6G2000, etc. Thompson road course uses the oval too. MGTC flying onto the oval. Configuration may be different now. Ex Walt Hansgen Stanguelini Jr exiting the oval

Structurally, a B-47 is a bit different than an F-86. A lot of wings tore off.
