In reply to Teqnyck:
It's the competition version of the Europa S1, the Type 47. The S1's were powered by 1.5ltr Renault engines while the Type 47 used a dohc, 1.6ltr Ford Cosworth.
A Europa once tempted me to cross over to the dark side; it was either an S1 or an S2 and several years old when I found it for sale. The guy advertising it was selling it "for a friend", so ownership was questionable. And, the fiberglass body had been modified (not well) with molded-in air scoops on each of buttresses; they weren't NACA ducts either.
Still, a test drive was mandatory. I had a slight-build (still do, fortunately) and everything fit really well; the pedals, steering wheel seating position were incredible and felt like sitting in a formula car. The shifter was a bit obstructed by the dominating central console. And then, I drove it.
Absolutely fantastic experience until it stopped running about 15-20 minutes into the drive. In Atlanta, in a very busy intersection at Piedmont Park, in the middle of summer - uggh, not good. The fuel pump stopped pumping. At the time, there was no Lotus nor Renault dealer in Atlanta or for next several hundred miles. No, I didn't buy that car.
