I watched the start of this race from the south east end of the Cotton Bowl.
Nigel Mansell, after he tried pushing his JPS sponsored (read: black car) Lotus 100 yds to the finish line after it ran out of gas at the Dallas Grand Prix. It was at least 100 degrees that day in July '84.
The day of the race, some guy out in front of the gate we walked through was giving away Fly Saudia t-shirts, which sponsored Keke Rosberg. I wasn't much of a Rosberg fan, or Williams either, but I took the shirt. Prost and McLaren were my choice. But Rosberg ended up winning that day, while Prost and Lauda in the McLarens both dnf'd, in the same corner, one lap apart.
