An Oregon man has legally changed his name from the mundane Douglas Allen Smith Jr. to the more awesome-sounding "Captain Awesome," in honor of a character from NBC's fantasy spy series "Chuck."
The 27-year-old unemployed cabinetmaker picked his new moniker in homage to the nickname given to the character of Dr. Devon Woodcomb (played by Ryan McPartlin), who got it himself because "everything he does is awesome," as Chuck (Zachary Levi) once noted.
The newly minted Awesome's name change petition was granted last month by a Lane County Circuit Court judge, who also let him change his official signature to a glyph: a right-pointing arrow, a smiley face and a left-pointing arrow.

“‘There’s three ways to do things: the right way, the wrong way, and the Max Power way.’”
“‘Isn’t that the wrong way?’”
“‘Yeah, but faster!’”
I'm changing my middle name to Thunderpants. And my signature to an impressionist portrait of my schlong.
That said, Captain Awesome has nothing on these guys.
This is not a joke, I flew cargo with a pilot named Sky Powers. Sky is his middle name, but very appropriate.
