I'm going on a work trip for a few months and am looking to take a cheap tablet. Definitely under 200, and would prefer under 100.
My needs/wants-decent battery life, wifi, not an apple product, must be able to download and read pdf files(need to study for a test when I get back), must be able to get a wifi only texting app and a camera would be nice for basic video calls.
The more rugged and the more plane/bland looking the better. Have been looking at the amazon fire 7 mainly because of the price.
Thoughts?

Amazon Fire is definitely the best cheap option.

We use straighttalk, but the odds a US based carrier working there is low.

Buy a used Nexus 7 2013 model for less than $100.
