Where I first heard about this story, which provides a different perspective of the survivor thanking god for his rescue. The Deadly Miracle
I wonder how they got him up, if he was far enough down that the diver had to use part-helium gas.
Edit: Oh it says they brought him up in a diving bell and then put him through decompression.
You know, you don't see those of us who believe in God coming in here and trying to flounder this thread. Maybe you guys should keep that to yourselves.
Regardless of who he thinks played a hand in it, it is amazing that he was rescued.

+1000. That was an ignorant and hateful rant.
Man. That would have been a lonely terrible death. The look on his face when the diver broke the surface...
If I was that diver, I would have made a fecal contribution to my wetsuit when that hand grabbed me!
And, the consideration of an alternate viewpoint is not hateful, ignorant or a flounder. ddavidv presented it as just another take on the story, with no judgement or attacks against anyone. While the author certainly had opinions, it was the religious folks who turned it onto an attack on the OP. Why must you always take such offense when you read a valid counterpoint? Jeez, yours is not the only opinion out there.
In reply to pinchvalve:
I'm assuming that is directed to me since I'm the only one to directly mention religion in this thread. To me the link to the article was presented as a substitution for the poster's own thoughts. That coupled with another post led me to post what I did. In other words I didn't bring religion into this thread nor would I ever have posted in this thread otherwise. I'm pretty tolerant of everyone's belief or lack thereof, but when you post something (again unless you state otherwise I accept your link as your opinion) saying i'm an idiot for believing, I won't sit idly by.
I propose that we mark every thread that's turned into an argument with a little firecracker, or better yet, a turd... so the rest of us can avoid clicking on it.
