Jesus Phranc. I'm sorry to hear that. More power to you for quitting.

So, did they all have to go outside to the smoke dock? Must have been a big smoke dock.
Lol- you're showing your age, Grasshopper. There was a time when smoking at one's desk was normal, and smoke docks were non-existent

I worked at Philip Morris, now Altria, for a time. They had smoking conference rooms. They had smoking lounges. They had smoking offices. Some of the executives would light up during a meeting because....it was Philip Morris. The receptionist had a crystal paper weight on her desk angled so that building visitors could see it that said "Thank you for smoking." Times have changed a bit. I hear the executives now ask during meetings if you mind if they smoke. Also, if you applied there, it was considered a perk or a positive if you noted on your application that you smoked.

That company made money hand over fist all day, every day. This was in the early 00's. Money was never an issue there. Industrial espionage was. During fire drills they would designate a spot for you to assemble. Someone was in charge of taking a roll call there once everyone was in place to ensure no one called the alarm and was still in the building acquiring data.

Current status: just don't care anymore. I was considering cleaning up my behavior & trying to get healthy so I could go racing again, but it just didn't work out. I did find a job, but it only pays about half of what I was making beforehand. There's no way on Earth I'll ever go racing again. Maybe I can go autocross one day, if I'm feeling brave enough to take the risk (however slight) of banging up my DD on a light pole in the parking lot one day.

I'm back to dithering over which bill to pay on time, and which one I can skip for a month without something being cut off. Cursing myself at the moment for buying a $20 card to stay on xBox Live, and then wasting another $30 the following night on having pizza & wings delivered. Damn, I'm an idiot..I'd learned how to live without eating every time I was hungry before I got the new job, and with some "chump change" in my pocket, I keep buying food.

Girl's gone. Her son that I'd helped nurse through cancer treatments--gone. Hell, even the dogs are gone (we agreed that the dogs should go with the boy when she moved out). Only thing left is the cat..and I don't even like the cat. She's very "vocal", and is a very picky eater.

Bless his heart, the cat's here because her son said "..I don't want Jay to be lonely..". He's a good hearted kid.

Retirement...gone. I still think raiding the 401k to buy a house outright was a good move, but I certainly would have bought one somewhere else if I'd known I was about to be "single" again. That being said, I'm seriously happy that I don't have to pay rent/mortgage to keep a roof over my head.

Long story short: Yeah, I still smoke. At the moment, I don't care if it kills me. If things get better, I'll try to quit again.

EDIT: I tried to calm down a bit.

Oh, and the black Corrado might be for sale. Needs tires & a windshield. Car was originally delivered in Michigan, has some rust problems (blister on the bottom of the hatch frame, and on the passenger side floorboard). Intermittent running problem, only time I tried to diagnose, I saw oil in the plastic connector from the main harness to the AFM. Might be just a leak from the valve cover, but I stopped researching it. Somebody bring me $2K, and it's yours. Bring a trailer, too..you won't be able to drive it home. Clean title and service records, but give me half a minute to find them. I never thought I'd ever sell the berkelying thing, so I don't know where they are.
