Completely off topic but I pulled out my record collection (Ya I never upgraded to cassettes and then to cd and then to digital) and showed my son what a record is and and how a record player works. He was just amassed by it. And you know they sounded DAM good!!!!!
Zeplin just sounds better in the old turn table.
I'm an audiophile, but, being that I'm only 42 I've never had much of a record collection. But in the last few months I've been thinking about it.

I was really wondering how it was different than buying used CDs, books, and the like. I get it now.
You say that like it will kill the thread, see you on page 7...
Haha. I was trying to kill it, but it has a life of its own.

Well, I'll play along, I'm bored today
Greed: a selfish and excessive desire for more of something (as money) than is needed
So, if you have a monopoly on an idea, I think that fits the definition of greed fairly well if you do not feel the desire to share it. Copyright is so bogus, software companies are even copyrighting shapes because #LOLUSAcopyrightlaw.
I don't actually have a problem with people being greedy. I do have a problem with people FORCING their greed onto others.
how come you get to decide how much money someone else needs?
do you need to have a toy car to play with in addition to the on that gets you to work and back, and do you need anything more than the cheapest hybrid that is available to do that?
do you need to have a pocket sized super computer that is connected to a worldwide network of computers via satellites and fiber optic cables?
do you need to have more money in your bank account than is required to pay your basic monthly bills?
do you need to be paid more than the government required minimum wage from your employer in exchange for your time and effort, and how is your time and effort worth more than the kids that work at McD's flipping burgers since time is the same for everyone?

I think that you need to stop thinking of it as "Stealing" and more as "Breach of contract"
The contract agreed to between itunes and the original buyer was that the digital content would not be re-distributed. If you do no like the deal, please do not buy our tunes. You would be surprised at what people will agree to without reading the fine print nowadays.
Here is the boilerplate that applies:
"... a limited, terminable, non-exclusive license and right to use the Software for your personal use in accordance with this Agreement and the Subscription Terms. The Software is licensed, not sold. Your license confers no title or ownership in the Software."
But for a moment, forget your ipod. The newest surprise to come out of the closet with this is your car. In theory, there could be fine print that keeps you from selling your car if it has any software on board and your purchase contract contains this kind of boilerplate.

Oddly enough, the older version of iTunes I have still whole heartedly finds it acceptable to rip a CD into a digital format that can then be placed on several devices and shared freely with people.......kinda a "do as we say, not as we do" mentality.
How has this not bee nposted yet.
(I get all of my music from HD downloads from Youtube. Mainly to replace failed CDs that I bought in the 80s and 90s, or for weird E36 M3 that isn't for sale in the US.)
Hitemp and I rarely agree on anything, but on this topic we do.
Great example. I've come up with a bunch of innovative ways to wrench and repair equipment, and never expected anything from it. Likewise, I have no problem paying for a CD. Once I've paid for it, though, I should be free to do what I want with it. And if I pay somebody to draw or design me something and he tries to tell me I can only use that drawing once, that's just greed.
