My early 2008 MacPro is finally aging out to the point where daily productivity is being affected. I'm switching to a Mac Mini but want to retain the drives I have in the MacPro. I'm looking at adding a 5-bay external drive enclosure. Hot-swappable isn't a necessity but I can see where it would be a nice option. The only issue I've seen on some of these enclosures is that the fans can be pretty noisy. If possible I think I'd prefer one that has a load/heat switch for fan control.
Is anyone currently using one that you like?
Just for home? No need for portable?
The two brands recommended to me were Orico and Synology. I think synology stopped doing just dumb drive bays and now they do all NAS, but I could be wrong. I got the synology because I wanted the NAS part

Just for home. I've got a 1TB portable drive I take if needed. I don't need the NAS feature, just a dumb drive bay.
How big are those 5 drives? If they're fairly small, you'll probably come out ahead buying one new drive that's big enough to hold all the data and copying it over.
I've had good luck with Vantec and Orico:
