I'm not sure of all the bunk that's out there, but for an example, my next door neighbor was convinced that a disc spinning counterclockwise would offset the effects of electrical interference and align the ions in his fuel.....

This is accurate, my diesel techs are almost all mudder/tractor pull type guys. None are interested in nascar, some follow drifting while driving around in their lifted dodges with thornbirds. Most are gearheads or wanna be gearheads; so I think money, cool mechanical stuff, chicks (and guys for the girls), tools and good information brings in interest.
I spend some time selling into these guys and the MPG discussion is probably where I would start.
The switch to single wide tires (Super Singles) vs doubles is reportedly good for 0.4Mpg on the class 8 trucks - Discuss.
Aero packages including undertrays, wheelcovers, and trailer skirts are sold as 5-7% mpg improvement but often test out as 2.5% - Discuss.
Ho do we think the new 2017 govt fuel economy regulations will effect new truck offerings as this is the first time the class 8 builders have had to meet any mpg targets - Discuss.

The Mid-American Trucking Show is march 26-28 and represents every manufacturer in the market and has a huge crowd in attendance. It's in tropical Louisville KY so it's certainly an exciting trip.
