He accused someone of having "made up" an elderly man that was definitely in the thread. I pointed out that he was not made up. Yet I'm the wrong one? He said: 'He also made up some random elderly guy and told me to "read the thread" ' which was completely false.

I get it you support the junky yard, that's your right of course. But please don't confuse a person's position on the discussion with civility.

Please show me where anyone mentions an elderly man before the guy I said made him up. He doesn’t exist until that point.

First page, about 3/4 of the way down from the OP:

Sorta. Mister Junkyard had just recently acquired his property through inheritance, and his property was mostly clear. In the two years we've been here he's gone from 80% of his property being clear to about...30%. He previously had enough room for 4 vehicles, now he's down to two, but he's keeping 3 on the property, so one gets parked haphazardly in the street (which has no sidewalks and of which he lives on a busy corner).

And two posts later:

For those interested, here is the property about a year before we moved in. It was managed/rented by his father who liked to keep the place clean.

Now, there is so much junk that he can barely get two vehicles parked over that culvert, and you can barely see the front of the house.

Between the managed/rented by his father, and acquiring the property through inheritance, we can deduce that it was an elderly man.

Just as an update, I did call the cops on my neighbor last night.  He lived there before I moved in, and was violating the law.

Please proceed to tell me this is a 'dick move' smiley

I think there is some confusion as to what a "dick move" is. The answer will depend on who you ask of course but...

If the law is already in place and you called to have it enforced, that is not a "dick move."

If you moved in and had the law changed to suit yourself and force your version of appropiate on your neighbors, then it is.

It happens all the time. Many accept that as the good and proper way to control the behavior of others. Some do not. There is the dividing line. There is the  philosophical discussion.

Fun times, but I'm pretty sure this horse is well and truly dead.

No, you are assuming it was an elderly man, My Dad died at 52, and left me a house, is 52 elderly?

The original made up post is:

cant believe yall are actually calling Pheller a dick because he bought the best house he could afford across from and elderly gentleman's house that was well kept, then he passed and his reletive moved in and went full Fred Sandford and has 2 dogs that bark until he loudly cusses at them.

That is 100% made up.  He did not move in across from a well kept house, and then this guy moved in after his "elderly relative passed".  That is false.  The existing neighbor was already there and the junk was starting to pile up. Someone moving in after you and trashing the neighborhood is different then you moving into a trashy neighborhood and having a problem with it being trashy, you knew it was crap when you moved in.

I keep being told to "read the thread" so I do, and the people telling me to "read the thread" are making stuff up.

Again, please find me someplace where an "elderly man" is mentioned, and the "neighbor coming after" is mentioned before the made up post.  Not "assumed" or "deduced", but specifically mentioned.

Should I "deduce" people here suck at reading, because they make stuff up?

Sure, go ahead with that, if that is your opinion.

I would agree with this statement.  However it seems that is up for debate:

It's not a dick move to move in next to a race track and expect them to operate legally.

No that's pretty much the definition of a dick move.

I know, thanks for coming back to the thread you were "done" with to take cheap shots at me. It helps me feel really good and builds a great community.

Again, please don't confuse disagreeing with someone with incivility.

You know what also makes people feel good and build community? Be really condescending and refuse to admit you are wrong. Why are your cheap shots at me Ok?

Did you find the elderly man?

I said for a long time that political and religious topics were ruining what was otherwise a good automotive forum.

The admins eventually banned those topics, and I was happy.

Then I realized how wrong I was.

Every move I make is a dick move.  I take it everywhere I go.

I'm not aware of any cheap shots at you. I apologize if I took any.

Yes, there was an elderly man, and you found the post but refuse to acknowledge it. That's fine, I understand you as well as I need to in order to be done with you. It's too bad, but when my first interactions with you are so negative, I'll just move on.
