Sounds like plenty of issues...possible even multiple subscriptions.

Picked one up for 420.00. I wouldn't expect to see them for much less. I'm doing the conversion. Just need to swap four parts out.

In reply to Bobzilla:

Might want to start looking quick the new UN firearms treaty they are trying to push through will severely limit imports and exports. If that happens prices of Saigas will go up just like Norincos did in the early 90s. Best plan will be get the rifle ASAP then when you have the cash pickup your conversion parts later. Those parts are US made and will continue to be widely available for awhile even if there is any issues with imports.

Same for me. Sporting stock until the vehicles are all in working order. Except the S13 off course. Still looking for a clean chassis.

Think about how heavy that thing would be with 100 rounds of .308, lol.

Bob, what don't you like about the rearward trigger placement? Are you just used to the regular AK placement? I just don't feel like moving the trigger. I just plan on changing enough to make the conversion legal.

Yamaha, not to get political, and Rebel may disagree, but being that buying American gun parts for conversions is good for the economy, so I wouldn't expect anyone to change laws regarding that. Secondly, I've read the treaty and all it will really add is more paperwork for the foreign weapons. The increase in price is debatable, but the main purpose is to keep guns out of the hands of those we haven't been keeping a close enough eye on. Really trying not to get too political, so I'll end it there.

In reply to N Sperlo:

I completely agree with you that buying the conversion parts is good for our economy, its just getting the initial base units in country in the first place. I have a feeling when the new rules go into effect many of the current importers/exporters will close up shop or start charging more as there will be more work on their part for bringing things in if it stays at current format (which I have no faith it will).

Granted that being said anything be built over seas can be made here, it will just cost more.

In reply to rebelgtp:

You have a point about shops closing up. Its going to be the exports that are a pain in the ass. It didn't look like importing would be a huge problem, but its a big treaty and I wasn't able to read the whole thing obviously. In turn shops closing is sure to drive up prices.

Yea, they can make the weapons behind our borders, but the Saigas are built in the same factory the AK47 was built in from what I understand. Can we replicate?

Anyway, my next weapon will probably be a Blackout 300 and come out of a factory a bit closer to your heart.

Some woman turned in a WWII Sturmgewehr 44 at a police buy back of guns in Connecticut . The rifle is worth north of $30,000, people normally get a Walmart gift card for $50-100 for guns turned in.

Yep, too much Crapco junk on it. I like to keep my rifles less super-hella-tactical.
