For fun today I decided to give the hand drill a shot (came from my gift). I chucked in one of the adjustable hole saws that I had, and got to work.

I quickly realized the vice was too high, so I stood on a chair.

After a few minutes, I could see it was in fact working.

But the downward pressure on the drill needed was more than I could do from that position. I moved to the floor with my knee on the board to get to where I could really lean into the drill.

And after about 15 minutes of hard work and flipping the board to go from boths sides, I learned you can drill a large hole the hard way.

I might have to send this stuff next year so one of you can try this too.

I got my box last weekend, have been busy and didn't get around to it.  I know my box made it to an address in Castlewood, SD.

Opening tool of choice an old Rigid buck knife I got a few years ago.

A reused box! Will have to reuse again!

Let's see what we got....

A spacley sprocket, a pulley, jaguar lamp of some sort, a bulb socket, random spark plugs, ignition coil, 3157 bulbs.

Napa keychain, 3/8 drive ratchet with a 10mm socket, a shift knob with what looks to be JB weld on it, a meguiars trim restore packet, what looks to be a TPI/TBI fuel feed fitting, random fasteners, a magnet and an air horn!  Last year I mailed an air horn to Washington and I got an air horn this year from Washington!

Last but not least, some popcorn, an atari 2600 game! ,some wheel spacers, a book, a button, an OLDSMOBILE 442!!!!! and a detachable face Alpine CD player!  Thank you!  I apologize for not opening sooner.

Just keep watching.  You're going to be happy again before it's all said and done.

Me? Cause I just got a box from a real name I don't recognize.

And it's AWESOME.

somebody did some stalking I see. Outlet adapters, sink adapters, plumbing cap, antique polarized extension cord, all will come in handy.

I love the piston key rings.

2018 fun dip, the 12 year old wants to try. A downright impressive selection of coasters and match books, stuff to fix the tractor, and nerf darts, and jeep playing cards

more magazines, a small gear puller, A FREAKING AIR RATCHET, a chunk of steel that looks like part of a wrench maybe?, ignition coils I haven't looked up yet, and some really cool promo gear. What's the J thing from Mac?(gee, if you'd opened it and read the page you would know) crammit camber adjuster!!, some really interesting looking dvds too for rc crawlers.

a rousch supercharger jump drive(maybe?) And some cool looking USB data sheets

So BIG HUGE THANK YOU to B in Georgia, this box is awesome and makes me feel bad about mine a little bit.

That's from me! Glad you liked everything!

The red metal lump is an attachment for a high lift jack. Which I've never owned, but somehow ended up with. I'm an automotive journalist, so I'm swimming in weird schwag. Those are VW coils BTW, I think for a 1.8T. And everyone needs NERF darts. And that bundle of wiring is a trailer wiring harness.

I have a piston keychain on my BMW now, adds 10 hp.

these coasters deserved a picture too, especially the Lebowski ones.

Got my box saturday and waited until I could do a proper unboxing. Everyone knows the only way to open a New Year's game box is with a little flare. So I opted for plasma torch. Here's an excessively long video showing just how easy it is to slice open a box with super heated plasma:

Key highlights: a Matchbox car collection starter kit (already claimed by my daughter), THREE Logdog stickers (I'm especially stoked to get a Vanadillo sticker for the tool chest!), a legit new Blaupunkt head unit, a Volvo hubcap clock that needs a new movement but will totally grace my wall, and a cool TI simulator that I'm SO TEMPTED to steal the switches from.

Indy-Guy, thanks so much for the box of loot. I enjoy this game most for the sense of community and the shenanigans far more than what's actually in the box...that said I have gotten some pretty great stuff over the years with this year being no exception.

Questions: there's a leather thing with a metal spike. What on earth is this for?

I can tell you that wasn't a very good movement when I built that clock- it was a 10$ target clock I took the guts out of. Built largely with components from my first ever received box from the mighty volvoclearinghouse

Re: Hi-Lift Jack

I have zero use for one, but want one. My mom worked there in high school. Pretty sure all of her siblings did too. My parents have Hi-Lift wine glasses from the 105th(?) birthday of the company.

I finally got my outgoing box off last week, so I took the opportunity this weekend to unbox the incoming, and what a haul; thanks to the sender! I was a bit worried because it arrived quite a bit worse for the wear, and was almost 33 pounds. It looks like some Postal worker added some clear packing tape along the way to help keep stuff in the box; thanks USPS!

I flipped it over and opened it up, and was relieved to see a box packed full of great stuff. The initial layer started off with stickers, including a BBQ joint from NC, plus I see I'm not the only motorcyclist to also dabble in the four-wheeled stuff on occasion.

Digging down to layer two got exciting. Clockwise from upper left: toy horse, mystery heavy cloth bag, fuses, laser level/screwdriver set, P clamps (hehehe...I sent some out this year, plus I got some, laugh) a locking extension cord connector (very timely...not sure if it was the result of top-tier stalking, or just a lucky guess, but very much appreciated either way,) toy helicopter, and picture hangers (also very timely.)

I started getting really excited and was digging with wild abandon at this point. The toy horse is more visible now, and some jumper cables are beginning to appear. There was an orange toy car, a blue tool wrap containing an awesome set of shorty combination wrenches (wow!) some heavy rings I couldn't ID, but that first had my mind leaping to how useful they might be for pressing, and a big 'ol bottle of chrome wheel cleaner. I don't have any chrome wheels at the moment, but what better excuse to start shopping for a project a bit more on the vintage side? devil I set the heavy cloth bag aside for now.

The Matchbox must have fallen victim to the sheer weight of goodies in the box, and as a result it has a charming demolition-derby vibe to it.

By now I was exclaiming out loud, and I might have let out some "woo-hoo!" type sounds that probably got the neighbors wondering. A little further down was a well-loved pipe wrench, a gigantic screwdriver blade, more fuses and P clamps, including one fuse that must have pissed off the pipe wrench somewhere along the journey. laugh Not pictured were a new spray sock, and a package of 3M outdoor moisture guard wiring connectors.

Before opening the box, I could see what looked like a hairy board peeking out of the hole in the box, and it looked like I had found it, along with the screwdriver blade and 2/3 of a package of masonry bits.

Well, it looks like an off-cut of something wood and fiberglass. Maybe something boat-ish? I have no real idea, I'm a total landlubber who thinks of water as dark/cold/drowny, and tries to keep it in the coming-out-of-the-tap or looking-at-it-from-a-distance realms.

I finally dug into the heavy cloth sack, and I'm sure my neighbors heard me yelling about this stuff, and it wasn't just the second beer talking! A great collection of cutting/machining tools, and a surprisingly lightweight piston/rod assembly, a horseshoe, plus some bolts with castellated nuts. The connecting rod cap is very interesting with some sort of oil slinger, or counterweight in a blade/fin shape on the very bottom. I'm excited to examine all the tools more closely and see what all we have in detail. My grandfather was a machinist, and I have many of his cutting tools, a few of which are useful and others of which are just part of my collection, so this stuff is really awesome for me.

Here's the entire loot laid out; thanks to gumby...I think?

Glad to see the contents generally survived the abuse! At +32lbs, and seeing things laid out, it definitely looks like everything stayed in the box.
The heavy rings are partial die sets for crimping hose ends, and will likely be very handy to have near a press as you imagine. I was pretty short on stickers this year without PRI sad
The plywood/fiberglass is a chunk of my Challenge Bradley GT. The chopper, jumper cables, and pipe wrench came from the trunk of the donor car.

Happy NYG!
