Man, glad to hear it was no worse than that. I agree it's dumb to spend the rest of your life paying off a million dollars in medical bills! And my preliminary bills are starting to roll in... this should be fun.

wait, so it's better to die than to have bills? While I agree our healthcare is borked, I can't say I agree with that response. I understand DNRs for massive brain trauma, etc, etc, but it will be a long long time before I choose to lay down and die to save a few dollars - or even a E36 M3-mountain of dollars. I don't have kids, but I do have a wife that seems to care for me a decent bit - I could never do that to her even if I felt like I was done on this planet.
I respect you guys, and you are welcome to whatever choice you want, but I just do not understand that.
I agree w/ultraclyde: I'd rather owe a $$billion than push up daisies.
No flounder on the menu here, but our healthcare isn't borked, the means by which we pay for it is.
Gonna have my say and then drop this; at no point did I say I was gonna shuffle off rather than be in debt. What I said was it's stupid to live the rest of your life paying off hospital bills, I stand by that statement. And I agree we have great health care, just a piss poor way of paying for it.
I'm self employed and had a high deductible health insurance plan. It was canceled in February because it wasn't legal under the new law. My heart attack happened on March 21st. My new insurance hadn't gone into effect. The total bill was about 73K. Because I was self pay It was reduced to about 42K. Bad timing because I have 2 kids in college right now as well.

Fully agree on both counts.
Rob, Wow... man....
That is some scary crap, and I'm glad you caught it when you did. You aren't allowed to go anywhere yet! You haven't even been to the Challenge!!!
I've had a few times in the past year where I've felt a twinge here and there, and I chalk it up to being a lard. After the last time, I started eating healthier. Back in March, we got a dog too, so now I'm much more active, but I have a long, long way to go. Having chest pains at age 32 just seems too early.
Take care of your bodies people... it's the only one you'll ever have.
