Nitro,

You're from Erie, did you happen to know a male nurse up there who ran auto-x in a S2000? I'm good friends with his sister.

Far more options for just about anything except boating  in South Central PA.

Source: lived in Erie for 3 years.

CDC is good people autocrossing on some truly awful lots.  You may or may not have some frustrations with the way events operate if you have run with well-tuned SCCA regions.

Susq. Region runs (ran?) Hershey and Farmshow, which are both an order of magnitude better than any CDC lots.  WDCR is a little further, has big fast courses, and is very well run.

On the stuff to do front, the original Washington monument is about halfway between Hagerstown and Frederick.  Its worth checking out once.

I just hopped on motorsportsreg, and it appears AHR moved the rallycross to Somerset,PA  this time.

Crap, looks like that's about an hour NW of Cumberland.  I thought it was only a few minutes.

I freely admit that Harry Grove is a postage stamp.   Winchester isnt massive, but is fair.  Waldorf, though...  that's a good lot that Autocrossers Inc also uses.  We keep selling out events, so hopefully we are doing something right!

Although, you might be calling us good people because there's at least 4 CDC organizers on this forum laugh

It is about a 1/2 hour further than the Allegany County Fairgrounds where the other two events were for people in the DC area.

I think getting together for a couple beers would be a great idea.  I see Apex Carver needs a little time to heal up and I'll be moving the rest of my things down to the area soon.  Maybe Nov 17/18 would work well?  I'll let you guys pick the place since the locals always know best.

Bright Yellow S2000?  They're friends of friends, but I didn't talk to them much directly. One of the many S2K owners I found up there.

I'll never admit to being a very good autocrosser - open track is where I seem to have better luck.  That said, the autox atmosphere is easier for meeting a bunch of people and seeing what neat projects everyone is into.  Misery Bay was a smaller operation typically 50 people or less, and I did like getting 8-10 runs at an event.  We typically lived close to the track and hung out after the events too.

I might be able to do Nov 17 or 18 depending on the time.  Both evenings I will have to be at the theater for performances, so as long as its pre-6pm I'm down.

But don't base your scheduling off of me.  I tend to work 80-100 hours a week.  I just finally had my birthday dinner with mom and dad this week.... celebrating my birthday 14 months ago.

I'm In highland. That's a little over an hour from Hagerstown. I do more stuff in DC and Balt than your area. Loads of hiking everywhere. I'm in Howard Co., so most of the outdoor stuff I do here but WV isn't too far and a lot of great outdoor stuff there too.

I've done a fair bit of mtn biking at the Fredrick Watershed/Gambril State Park.  If you're into that sort of thing, it's some of the best riding on the East Coast. Technical and rocky.

+1 for the Carlisle Import show.  While a lot of Carlisle shows seem to be focused on being swap meets, the Import show is really just a big car show of mostly obscure cars.  You'll see cars you haven't seen in years along with strange European cars you may have never seen.  The one downside is it always seems to rain. May 18-20, 2018.

Waldorf isn't terrible.  I was picturing Bowie in my head when I posted before.

Yeah, the events are very laid back, for better or worse.

I've gotta double check with SWMBO, but I think we may be going out to her parents the weekend of the 17-18th. Could maybe still do the 17th though.

Good, its not a great lot.  I moved away in 2012.  I prioritized anything SCCA (or other large lots) over CDC starting in like 2008 or 2009.

The refrigerator bowl series reminds me of the track cross I tried at PittRace a few years ago.  It wasn't during the winter, but the partial track used as an autocross circuit was a neat concept.  Now I'm hooked on real track days, call it a gateway drug.  Luckily, I found out one of my coworkers in an instructor there and runs his turbocharged NA miata around the track.

Does anyone have recommendations for a repair shop between Chambersburg and Hagerstown?   I was swapping wheels and tires around when I noticed an axle seal leaking on my truck.  I don't quite have the tools for the job but I'd like to get it taken care of before it gets any worse.

Also, anyone still interested in beers on the 18th?  I found the two breweries here Gear House and Roy Pitz this past weekend.  Both nice places to check out.

I havent done the refrigerator bowl, but have been hearing some warnings. Risks are not typical autocross level, speeds are higher and are on the roadcourse segments. Add in cold tires and I have heard some sad stories with damage there.
