This is a friend's, and he's had it since he was a kid. The rest of it is up there too. Is there any way to ID these? I was wondering if Manx might have made smaller ones? Google didn't shed much light on the subject.
Woody, you might have it with the Dune Cat. The nose looks pretty close. I wish it showed the shape of the hole for the engine though. The one on the Funderbird is definitely too large.
I'm not sure about the shape of the seat pan. It would help if we could see it from above, obviously. Does he have a frame for it?
I almost bought a Dune Cat at the Thompson Speedway swap meet last year. They're cool, but very small.
Actually, looking at the photo of the original, you can see how from the underneath there are two distinct "sides" running almost all the way front to rear. The blue Dune Cat doesn't have those, so that might not be it.
Also the rear tires on his are small, like normal 1970's go karts.
Another similar vehicle was the Ruppster: http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh19/RuppstersRides/PB150360.jpg
Yes Woody, that's it! It still has those tires even.
Thanks for the tip, I'll go dig around on the Samba!
