according to the harris county rain gauges, the biggest amounts are on the sw side of town with 4-6" from brookshire to sugarland to missouri city to pearland. most of houston proper is showing 2.5-4.5" totals over the last 24 hours. around here, we had a 1+" hour from 7-8am today. as I'm typing the rain is starting back up again.

Wind has been howling all morning here in Austin. The eye is about 90 miles out, just saw on the news that there appears to have been a tornado in Katy. These little spin up tornados are my biggest concern.

Prepped the house and headed out of town Friday with family and probably won't come back until Thursday, depending on how the weather plays out. We're having a good time with relatives we haven't seen in awhile way up in NE Texas out of the weather path. Whatever happens happens. Hopefully come back to a non-flooded house and FR-S but if is flooded it's not the end of the world for us...

For everyone staying through, prayers and thoughts for best situation are with you guys.

Edit: And I just see right now Tornado Warning issued for where my sister lives and also close to my residence...

drove through probably 2.5-3 feet of water on ella just north of the tracks in oak forest on the way home. had to drop the wife off and go back and give my buddy and his wife a ride home as their crossover SUV wouldn't have made it through. seems like its getting real in Houston now.

There is a town SE of Austin call Bastrop. A few weeks ago they had a really bad fire and it took out a bunch of land. Now they are forecasting the Colorado River to be 3-5 Ft over it's banks by Monday. That place is a natural disaster magnet.

At a weather station near my BIL's house in Pearland, they reported 9.2" in 90 minutes. Luckily, they are here with us in Austin. I'm on the right side of Austin, The NW side and it's not horrid here. Just a lot of rain and this morning the winds are getting strong.

In reply to bmw88rider: Bastrop has seen over 15 inches of rain as of this morning. That place cannot catch a break.

looks like every creek in the white oak bayou watershed is either over top of bank or within 3' of it right now.

all the red dots are river/bayou gauges over banks, the yellow are within 3' of TOB.

Water isn't coming in yet, but they're calling for another foot of rain today. We moved the first wave of stuff upstairs and pulled up the floor by the door where water will come in if it does. The house will flood long before the cars do so that's nice. There are a LOT of potential challenge cars floating around south east Texas this morning.

They wouldn't do that much anyway because of how the house is built. It comes in the door, but also under the walls. We're in a lull now and the water is receding a bit. Flooding here is inconvenient, not house destroying.

I made a similar comment about cheap cars yesterday to my GF.

She says, "What does that have to do with us?"

I may have to leave her...

Talked to spacecadet this morning. He's high and dry but the roads in his neighborhood have 2-3 feet of water over them. A Miata is not the answer today.

Kiddy pool is full 10+ inches......side yard 6+ inches and flowing past the front door...Neidk creek out of its banks less than a quarter mile from me ....water level at that bridge 6+feet with creek being 15 feet below that....power is still on duh hoping the winds don't kick up. Oh and the annual humming bird migration festival is in full swing ....nine feeders up and close to 30 birds you can see(usually there's that many up in the trees)
that's Decker Branch not Neidk creek for those following along
