I'd say up your game just a little and listen to some Killswitch Engage. Their last album, Disarm the Descent, could be a gateway into another world for you. 
If you like that, then I can suggest more.
Coheed and Cambria are still pretty heavy, despite the shrill of Claudio's voice. Then again I was always a fan of heavy music with vocals that aren't trying to sound tough. I guess they call that Post-Hardcore.

My thoughts exactly. I was never a big fan, but they were dead to me when they blew up the Ferrari 360 in that music video when I was in middle school. They made the wrong impression on my young, impressionable mind.

Coheed and Cambria are the Rush of the Post Hardcore world. They have heavy Prog Rock leanings, and I've been a fan for a long time. All of their albums (except the latest one) tell an elaborate story based on a universe created by the band called The Amory Wars. If you are a comic book or sci-fi nerd, this will be right up your alley.

Not quite the same, but when I'm listening to Disturbed I tend to branch out towards In Flames, Darkest Hour, and Killswitch Engage.

I'm going to be honest and this is by no way a reflection of anyone on this board but they gave me the wrong impression in High School because I watched a few good kids that I was friends with in Jr High get into Korn and ICP and they turned into worthless people. A lot probably was from the group of people that listened to that type of music in my high school. One of them was my best friend and now he and his so-called wife (who is pregnant) live in a hotel room. There's a lot to that story, but that's for another time.

You just named two of my most hated bands of all time. Disturbed and 5 finger dick touch both make me want to kick little puppies. I'll let Korn slide. Maybe you should listen to some Bjork to cleanse your palate

You have picked my interest. I must admit that my last disturbed album was 10k fists. Reminds me of winning OzFest tickets back in '06. Mixed memories there.
It is funny how one's preferences change over time.
I love metal but never got into nü metal or whatever you'd call Korn and Disturbed. I know, I'm old school.
We saw The Sword like two weeks ago--front row, too! I do like that heavy, sludgy metal. Plus the guy can sing.
On the Korn thing...
I got their 1st album back in 1994 because it sounded different. Then, it quickly became the proto-Juggalo crowd's music, and it was time for me to step away. I still have a hard time listening to them.
There are many better bands out there to scratch that itch.

The band 36 Crazyfists kinda fits this bill too. Although they perpetually sound like 2003, it's not necessarily a bad thing. Their latest album is pretty good.

Thanks. Yeah, we saw The Sword open for Clutch a few years ago. After their set I went over to the merch table and picked up a few CDs. We saw them open for Clutch once more and finally got to see them headline a show.
I'd add Fu Manchu to that list.

I've been a fan of theirs since I saw a review of The Action Is Go in Transworld Skateboarding ages ago. Their songs should appeal to pretty much everyone on this forum, because a lot of them are car related.
I saw them in 2013 and picked up The Action Is Go on vinyl after seeing them play it front to back live.
