I need a new job

I've been doing call center work in a low (for the industry, ok for the town) pay for about 18 months now. I'm tired of being promised one thing, then getting something else. I'm in Central FL, have moderate networking skills and good computer hardware and software skills. Does anyone have any sort of leads? Suggestions for other fields would be great, too. If my wife and I could survive on just student loans, I'd be in college right now, so keep that in mind as well.

Your best bet may be to move someplace else. Obviously, hit up a number of head-hunters aka contract companies, work on the resume (many will help you with this) along with the usual job sites and start hunting out.

I say this because many companies still need to get things done, but can't pay to have a FTE position created. Instead, they'll bring in a contractor to fill the gaps. Be flexible, learn about project management and you can fill many, many gaps. Be sure to focus on certifications and learning on your own free time. This may require building a lab to play with.

I'm a bit north of you in Palatka. The job market isn't the greatest here, never really has been. I'm willing to commute and relocate, though. I wish my wife could get a teaching job ANYWHERE close, as that would keep us from having to relocate.

I'm just glad we don't have much in the way of bills.

I will second hitting up the contracting companies, they are one of the best ways to get into a company. That is how I got my current low stress well paid Government contract job.
