seriously, and much to SWMBO'ed chagrin. As part of my recent medical woes part of the check into everything included a cholesterol test which revealed a total of 174, LDL is 104, HDL is 54 and triglycerides are 66.
I was told that after my next surgery and treatment that I need to boost my HDL as it's too low.
FYI, I know that cholesterol and blood pressure are serious things that many people struggle with daily to manage and that makes even small strides for them requires life changes and serious amounts of effort. I don't intend for this thread to make light of those issues, but am quite pleased to finally get a medical "win", especially when considering the other news that came with the phone call.

My HDL had never been as high as yours. But, I can say my LDL and triglycerides are higher than yours. Doesn't really matter too much what I eat or if I exercise or not. Hopefully the other news you got isn't too bad.
Thanks, I knew about part of the other stuff, the battle just won't be as simple or easy as I had hoped and as it was initially thought to be.
I'd suggest bacon marmalade. I never knew it existed until this weekend, now I'm desperately seeking more!
Bacon is a staple food. I try to fit it in at least 5 days a week.

DD#1 has a condition related to low blood pressure. Her doctor told her to look for high-sodium foods.

that HDL and your triglycerides seem to be pretty darn good … according to my Dr. there's really not much we can do to greatly increase our HDL … LDL ? yes … but according to him HDL is as much, if not more, determined by genetics
good luck

Went to the doctor for 6 month check this morning and he had the results of my Cholesterol tests. According to him:
Cholesterol - Normal is < 200
LDL - Desired is < 130 or < 100 if you have Diabetes
HDL - Normal is > 45
Triglyceride - Normal is < 150
According to that I don't see where you have a problem.
