Wow, that's a list. I saw Death Angel three times in 2012, for whatever that's worth. I'm still bummed for missing Helmet, but I can't complain since I saw a ton of shows.

Later this week I'm seeing The Attack. It's punk, but they look like normal dudes. (And I just noticed that their drummer is shown wearing an Anthrax shirt.)

On the "band" page you can hear some tunes. https://www.facebook.com/TheAttackFL?fref=ts

I believe this is their first show since touring with the Misfits, so props to the local guys landing a nice gig.

This is happening next year. Look at this lineup:

So far, this is the lineup:

-Municipal Waste

-Holy Grail

-Exodus

-Anthrax

And there will be more. And get this: Anthrax will be performing Among the Living in it's entirety!!! It's like they knew that I just bought it the other day on vinyl and that it's my favorite 'Thrax album. Holy crap!

In reply to David S. Wallens:

I had been waiting years to see Helmet. Finally saw them when they opened for The Toadies. Wasn't all that impressed.

Next show is Quicksand in a few weeks. This, I can't wait for.

Really, not a great show? Okay, I don't feel so bad.

And yeah, that Metal Alliance tour sounds good. I just saw the release yesterday.

Helmet did put on a good show don't get me wrong. I would never "not" see them again. It was just that I had been mentally over-preparing for so long since each they came around in the past 5 years or so I couldn't go for one reason or another.

Surprisingly I felt The Toadies put on a better show, considering I had seen them years before & thought they were rather poor.

I also missed the Melvins this year--never seen them, in fact.

Has the 70000 Tons (Tonnes) of Metal tour been mentioned yet? They consistently have an amazing lineup and from everyone I have met who's gone, they would go again in a heartbeat.

Unfortunately, I can't make 2013. I have high hopes for 2014 though.

Does Dillinger Escape Plan belong in this thread? Or does that delve more into the Hardcore realm?

Not a fan of Dillinger but it's math metal so it belongs.

Sure, Coalesce caters to the metal crowd.

I need to pick up an album. Not sure if I'll love them or not, but I want to give them a good shake. Any recommendations on which album to buy first?

In reply to David S. Wallens:

According to Decibel magazine's "Precious Metal" the one to check out is Calculating Infinity.

I cannot confirm this as I'm not a fan. Perhaps it's worth a listen, my tastes are always changing.

I have never been a fan of them but this album is crazy.

I just picked up a disc from Cradle of Filth over the weekend called "The Manticore and Other Horrors". It's pretty much straight-up Slayer/King Diamond-esque 80's-type speed/thrash/death-metal, with a bit of symphonic music over the top. So far I'm really digging it.

Of course I'll revive this. My tattoo artist introduced me to this band over the weekend. The only way he could describe them was a cross between Yes and Saint Vitus. Has a very 70's proggy feel at times, with some traditional heavy metal/doom. Check it out, good old school feel to this.
