Well, I had an argument with the lady about me getting another tattoo next month. I had been thinking about it all day at work really. How many of you have gotten interesting tattoos? Any crazy stories? Post photos. Anything cool and car related?
I'll start with one of my legs.
Wow you got three legs !
Sorry no tattoos here. The wife has two, but not really interesting. The usual girly rose and heart stuff.
So uh, you really like turbos, eh?

Yeahhh, it's a bit of addiction. I have other car parts on the body.
But do you have other body parts on the car?
Th wife and I got each other's names on our first anniversary. My name on her arm was pretty standard fair. Mine for her's was a barbwire heart surrounding her name with a black rose inside on my left pec. The meaning goes as such "Loving Dawn can be quite difficult and painful, but something unique and beautiful lies inside and that's why I do."
Its one of those things she wants to face palm on because she knows thats a dead on description. Sorry no pics.
Two of my favorite car related ones are both VW centric. One was a timing belt with the 3 gears and tensioner. The intermediate shaft was a VW logo. The other was a VR6 head gasket with the VW in one of the cylinders.
I've got a batch of tattoos on my right arm, many of which are automotive related.
A CRX and Camaro drag racing against a southwestern skyline. Yuma, Arizona specifically. There's a christmas tree and all. It's not incredible work, but the perspective is challenging on a round object like my shoulder. The colors were incredible, but too much sun means it's time to touch up the color. That's what I get for being stuck in the desert, inspired, and impatient.
Corvette-inspired checkered flag motif with "traditional" hot rod flames around my wrist. The artist, Permanent Mark, has gone on to get a pretty solid reputation as an artist. He deserves it, because he's berkeleying awesome.
I used to have "Hashiriya" on my right arm in legit kanji (hiragana specifically) that I got in Okinawa along with some JDM buddies. The placement was very specific, so as to be visible when you're stylin' in a right hand drive car. The guys I got that with were a really cool crew that I was honored to hang out with, and they could make movies about the stuff we did.
For reasons that we won't go into here I covered it up. Now, Japanese woodblock-style wind bars and a batch of skulls pretty much fill in the rest of my arm aside from a non-automotive chaosium on my elbow.
I've also got an Eagle, Globe and Anchor on my left shoulder and a sailor's swallow on my chest. I earned one and was given the other. They're both pretty special.
Ahh...tattoo stories. I'll work on pics tomorrow.

Only time I would ever get a tat would be if I was in the Armed Forces. Otherwise, I'll pass. But I do enjoy the art that they are. I think they are cool, but just not for me. I like the turbo
I never had both money and motivation(at the same time) for any. But I might do what my dad did and get my wedding date on the arm.

Nice work. Where was it done?
Some tats are awesome, some are just ...not. I don't have them, as I believe that my OTHER scars tell more about me than is decent to know. The missing fingertip, for example is a dandy way to emphasize keeping one's hands out of the way of falling objects like pickups with steel fender liners. Especially so if the questioner is an impressonable 15 year old would-be mechanic. I looove it when they turn slightly green and look at their own hands .
Truth be told, though, I was never much interested in them until I saw Abby on NCIS .
Judge away but i love 'em. These pictures are from a few years ago when i first got them:
I've also got the beginnings of a Hitchhikers's Guide/general space/sci-fi sleeve on my left arm as well as a 1984 (the book) related one on my left leg. I plan on many more.

On the inside of my left arm, from the inner bicep down to the forearm, I have some pinstriping I designed based on a piece I once saw on the hood of a '50 Buick. I'm no artist, so that took a long time to lay out, and then my guy did it freehand, occasionally glancing at the the overlay I slaved over. Bastard.
On my right inner forearm/wrist, I have the wrench/grass logo from the cover of Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance. I'm planning a sleeve on my right arm with more imagery from ZMM and representations of Pirsig's working metaphors for the Metaphysics of Quality.
So, kinda motor-related; to the same extent that ZMM was about motorcycles, which is to say tangentially.
I am too wishy-washy for a tattoo. I have not liked anything long enough to want it on my body for the rest of my life. I am thinking about getting a tattoo in skin-colored ink as some sort of artistic statement. It's there, but it's not there kinda thing.
I have one on my upper left arm that I regret, got it at 18.
As a toolmaker you should not wear watches or jewelry while running machines so I don't, not even a wedding band. For my 20th wedding anniversary I got a Celtic band inked on my left ring finger.

I can't wrap my mind around getting a tattoo on my own skin. I can't think of anything that I'd want there for the rest of my life. I've seen some I wanted, even consulted an artist, but I've backed out every time I think about it. It's just not for me.
I have 5 stars on my left arm.
Me craving a sleeve changes from month to month. I am trying to think of some good ones that i will be able to live with for the rest of my life
An exhaust stud from a Suzuki trail bike ripped a huge gash in my arm, leaving a large, lumpy Keloid scar. I also have three stitches in the back of my neck from the bike shifter in the same event (yes, I was wearing a helmet).
Those are my ~tatoos~.

I have a pylon on my left inner ankle. I'm such a rebel.

Where'd you get those at? I got my one - modified iron cross with monogram of wife's and kids' initials overlaid on my upper left arm - done at Glenn Scott's place in the Oregon District. The guy I got was OK, but I probably wouldn't go with him again.
I got this one in two parts. I got the flags after graduating college, building my first SpecMiata, and getting a job. The wreath I got after getting my first victory and regional SpecMiata championship.
I want to update it after some more wins last year, but haven't had the extra cash. Hopefully this winter.
I have another one on my outter thigh in memory of my mom that is a trace of her favorite picture with her initials.
