Downloaded iTunes 10 today. I have about 5000 songs, some are m4a's (purchases from iTunes Store), but most are .mp3s. The m4a files play fine. The mp3 files are all tinny, scratchy and muffled.
Can this be fixed?
Can this be fixed without 'fixing' one song file at a time?
I tried uninstalling 10 and going back to an earlier version, but it said that my library could not be accessed because it was created by a later version of iTunes...so I put 10 back in.
I did check--files play fine in Realplayer, so they are not corrupt per-se.
Never heard of such a thing, and mine seems to be working fine. Check the Apple Forums.

Yes, use anything but iTunes. Winamp is what I use, and you can still dock your iPod or any usb drive and manage it for music. The only time I used iTunes was to update the iPod. Then I would uninstall it. I hate iTunes.
I don't play mp3's in itunes. I reserve it for organizing my Ipod and downloading updates. Winamp is what I use.

Winamp sounds good; I don't care for Realplayer either. The "protected" ACC (iTunes) downloads won't play there either. Will they work on Winamp?
