Absurd? Yes, completely. I guess, having spent a number of years here, one begins to notice a pattern in the topics. Discussion is great. If you're speaking to the broad subject of healthy debate being healthy, then yes, that's true. And I'm all for topics that have some thought provoking content. However, this is GRM, and in topics like these, the discussion generally follows a set formula of mockery that reminds me of that Jim Gaffigan bit about being a waiter in a Mexican restaurant. I'll paraphrase by saying, it's all beef, beans, and rice.
Forgive me for pulling the curtain back, but I was genuinely curious what the motivation is in beating dead horses.

Regardless of GPS' stated intention, this thread is little more than trolling for trolls.
It's not hard to imagine any other outcome. Disappointing, really.

I know that bit! He, he. It's funny.

Wait a minute, now you're beating the dead...
Nevermind.
You seem like a genuinely good guy. I know you were responding to Alpha, but sorry to you and everyone else for anything I said that rubbed you the wrong way. I do that. It's a failing.

berkeley that.
It wasn't troll bait but - well maybe anything that questions established retarded norms is troll bait but what the berkeley... it does always end the same. Perhaps there is a concerted effort by retards to shut down threads that that challenge their narrow beliefs?
Again, berkeley you.
Science is why we are having this backward ass argument on the berkeleying internet you idiots. Learn it. It won't hurt you. It won't scare jesus away. I promise. (I lied about that last part).
Engage. You went far enough to speak in bytes. Lets evolve (wrong word?)

Dude, even the Pope approves of evolution.

If you're responding to my posted disappointment, get over yourself and shove the condescending attitude into a place that welcomes the vitriol.
And again, if you're responding to me, you ASSume far too much in projecting your belief that I do not/will not challenge norms, am retarded and subscribe to narrow beliefs. There is much you presume to know but still are too ill-equipped to pass judgement. But that hasn't stopped you, so carry on.
I'm recognizing the stated requests by our hosts to refrain from engaging in political and/or religious discussions.
You take a different approach.............

I thought they were OK as long as everyone played nicely?
In reply to oldsaw:
I wasn't addressing you at all. If I were - I'd have used the quote thingy.
ASSuming I was talking to you alone is a conceit.
EDIT: I wasn't talking to you at all - you have never struck me as idiotic, nor closed minded. I mean, before that last post
EDIT 2: I am not projecting a "belief". I am suggesting that ignorance of science is a detriment and religious zealots are chiming in to disagree. I still do not believe that science and religion must be at odds up until we get to the ultimate question. Saying you believe in Jesus does excuse you from understanding how E36 M3 works. Period.

Not even then, if you ask me. But I'm weird. I accept that.

THIS!!! (...and I probably have stronger opinions on this than most people.)
Now come on. First of all there is no proof of evolution and scientists are split on the issue. Its just that the scientist who disagree with it haven't done any research.

see, this is how bad social/political/religious discourse has become these days. I honestly can't tell anymore when someone is serious, when they're being sarcastic, and when they're just batE36 M3 crazy.
All of the rhetoric is so damn overheated it doesn't even make sense any more. It's like Godwin's law is a goal, not a failure.
This is because nowadays it is possible to 'believe in' something, without any corresponding action. You don't need to show by action that you have certain convictions, you must only express those convictions using the correct formulae and people will respond as if you had already done the impossible things you say you would do if you could. As a result, many are eager to express their opinion on some social or political topic, but few actually follow through on those 'convictions' with real action like volunteering or voting.
I say let them teach 'creation' as long they teach it using the original Hebrew names for the Pentateuch, it would have the effect of brightening the classroom with the infectious giggles and laughter only the young produce, because in the woods, bears ('beres') do in fact defecate.
Just checkin in. Yup. Bout what I figured. Carry on.
Hi, I'm Margie. I'm a Christian, I was born and raised in Kentucky, and I believe in evolution.
I also wholeheartedly believe in a troll-free web. So this is done now.
