Hi all, got a couple chunks missing from this concrete counter top that I'd like to patch (image below). The counter top is a pozzalonic fly-ash concrete. I found one video (LINK) of a guy just using Portland Cement. Smearing it on, then sanding it down. Will following his process work?

Someone told my wife to put sodium silicate down first (mixed 50-50 with water) to stabilize it. Not sure why this person said that. Do I need to use the sodium silicate?

Clearly this has some sort of sealer on it that I will have to reproduce. I know the builder and will be able to ask him, but if you have a sense for what it is and how it will impact the patch, I'm all ears.
