I recently bought a riding lawn mower with a bad engine sight unseen.  It's supposed to be a parts donor for my 7 year old Craftsman/Husqvarna but I immediately found a problem with that plan. The mower deck, which I really need, has a bracket that broke off and will need to be reattached. I don't have a mig welder and this project doesn't warrant me buying one.

Is there anybody in the area that can either weld it for me at an affordable price or recommend me a shop to take it to that won't ask a small fortune?  I'm in Beaver Falls, north of Pittsburgh and close to Pitt Race if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

I would offer to do it for you but I'm an hour and a half south east.

If nobody chimes in closer you're welcome to bring it to the shop though.

I'm in Pittsburgh - south hills. But my welding skills are very bad at best and I'd prefer not to offer even free services. You could buy this welder instead:

Way better than it should be and will probably be close to what a shop may try to charge. Then you have a welder. Good luck.

Got pic?

I could do it also, but I'm 20-something miles further south of RevRico. My MIG welder isn't portable either. I'd make time for a GRM brother.

You could also post on Steel Cities SCCA Facebook page. I'd bet my beer money that someone there could help you, and be closer too.

I was hoping to not spend that much to repair the deck, plus it's been years since I've used a welder so I'd need to practice a lot to get somewhat decent results.  So this really isn't the option that I wanted.

Pittsburgh has got to have some fab shops that could stick that together.  How about the crusty old muffler and exhaust shops?

What " wawazat" said.
I had a oil cooler fan bracket welded at a Midas shop for next to nothing.
